A flexible bag having expansible and collapsible cells can be used in a liquid dispenser. A rigid manifold, and in one instance a rigid frame is provided in the bag to keep passages open in use and to isolate one of the cells from the remaining cells. The manifold is capable of altering the volume of one of the cells so that the same bag can be used in different applications.

Flexible bag for fluent material dispenser

A liquid dispenser uses a flexible bag having expansible and collapsible cells. A rigid manifold, and in one instance a rigid frame is provided in the bag to keep passages open in use and to isolate one of the cells from the remaining cells. The dispenser employs an efficient and quiet air pressure operating system. In one application, a concentrated drink mix may be held in a reservoir and diluted within other cells in the bag for dispensing to a cup or the like. A valve system allows for the particulates in the liquid without compromising the function of the valve.

Liquid dispenser and flexible bag therefor

A connector, a container using the connector and a method for establishing fluid communication with a container. The connector may include a first coupling member and a second coupling member. The container may attach to the first coupling member. The first coupling member may have a first passageway with a spike and a membrane located therein. The second coupling member may have a second passageway. The first coupling member may engage the second coupling member and may further pierce the membrane with the spike. The first coupling member may further have a female end of a luer-lock, and the second coupling member may have a male end of a luer-lock. The first coupling member and the second coupling member may be engaged by twisting the male end and the female end of the coupling members to form the connector and establish fluid communication with the container.

The present invention provides a multiple layer thermoplastic structure of a (1) skin layer selected from the group consisting of polypropylene, ethylene homopolymers having a density of from about 0.930 g/cc to about 0.960 g/cc, and ethylene homopolymers having a density of from about 0.930 g/cc to about 0.960 g/cc blended with an ethylene and a-olefin copolymers having a density less than about 0.930 g/cc, the skin layer having a thickness of greater than about 3.0 mils; (2) a radio frequency susceptible layer adhered to the skin layer, the radio frequency susceptible layer having a dielectric loss greater than 0.05 at 1-60 MHz and at temperatures of ambient to 250&deg; C., the radio frequency susceptible layer having: (a) a first polyolefin selected from the group consisting of polypropylene and polypropylene copolymers, (b) a second polyolefin selected from the group consisting of ethylene copolymers, ultra-low density polyethylene, polybutene, and butene ethylene copolymers; (c) a radio frequency susceptible polymer selected from the group consisting of (i) ethylene copolymers having 50-85% ethylene content with comonomers selected from a first group consisting of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, ester derivatives of acrylic acid with alcohols having 1-10 carbons, ester derivatives of methacrylic acid with alcohols having 1-10 carbons, vinyl acetate, and vinyl alcohol (ii) homopolymers and copolymers containing at least one segment of urethanes, esters, ureas, imides, sulfones, and amides, and (d) a compatibilizing agent of a styrene and hydrocarbon copolymer; wherein the structure when fabricated into a 50 ml container has a water vapor transmission rate of less than 8% by weight after the container has been autoclaved at 121&deg; C. for 20 minutes and stored for 90 days in an environmentally regulated compartment having 15% relative humidity at 40&deg; C.

Multi-layered polymer based moisture barrier structure for medical grade products

A resealable access site (10) is provided for allowing a cannula (18) multiple accesses to an internal cavity (35) defined by a container (12). The access site (10) includes a first conduit (28) defining a passageway (29) forming a fluid path to the cavity within the container. Sealingly attached to the conduit (28) is a housing (26) with a lower portion (26a) and a lower flange (68) attached to a lower end of the lower portion and extending radially inward from the lower portion. A septum (24) is disposed and compressed within the lower portion, with the septum defining an opening (46) extending upward through at least a portion of the septum. The opening (46) is sized for insertion of the cannula (18) through the septum (24) with the septum sealing about the exterior of the cannula. The septum (24) is maintained in the housing by the support provided by the opposing flange (68) and conduit (28).

Resealable access site

A closure for a tubular administration port is formed by inner and outer members having upper ends joined together in sealing relationship. The inner member has a sealed bottom end and is configured to fit within the administration port. The outer member is configured to engage about an exterior of the tubular port. The inner member includes radially outwardly extending ribs that engage against the interior of the administration port in an interference fit relationship.

Port closure

A port and closure assembly for a container is provided. The port and closure assembly includes a port having a tubular portion that extends from a base and terminates at an end including an opening. The tubular portion is divided into an upper and lower section by a pierceable membrane. The upper section including an end that terminates at the opening and including a resealing injection site. A closure member for removably surrounding at least a portion of the end of the port including the opening is provided. The closure includes a sleeve that circumscribes at least a portion of an outer surface of the upper section of the tubular portion. The sleeve is so constructed and arranged as to cause portions of the upper section to contact the resealing member during a sterilization step that softens the portions and further causes the portions of the upper section to retain the resealing injection site within the tubular portion after the portions have hardened.
