A microwave single pixel imager apparatus and method of using same. Sampling a targeted scene includes the following. A plurality of modulated antenna patterns is generated using a reflectarray. A plurality of antenna temperatures respectively corresponding to the plurality of modulated antenna patterns is measured. A retrieved scene corresponding to the sampled targeted scene is generated. Generating a retrieved scene corresponding to the sampled targeted scene includes the following. The plurality of modulated antenna patterns and the corresponding plurality of antenna temperatures are fed into a compressive sensing imaging algorithm.

Microwave single pixel imager (MSPI)

An apparatus includes a radio frequency ('RF') translational joint. The RF translational joint includes a first coaxial line. The RF translational joint includes a first constant impedance coaxial transition connected to the first initial coaxial line. The RF translational joint includes a coax-to-stripline transition. The RF translational joint includes a stripline section connected to the first constant impedance coaxial transition via the coax-to-stripline transition. The RF translational joint includes a stripline-to-coax transition. The RF translational joint includes a second constant impedance coaxial transition connected to the stripline section via the stripline-to-coax transition. The RF translation joint includes a second coaxial line connected to the second constant impedance coaxial transition.

Method and/or apparatus for frictionless wideband high-power radio-frequency power transmission across a freely moving interface

A space solar power system that has sun-tracking curved reflectors, such as off-axis parabolic reflectors, a secondary reflector, and a power conversion module for converting the sunlight into microwave energy and transmit the energy to remote locations. The power conversion module can have a modular stepped conical shape, with additional radiator area configured in vertical sidewalls, horizontal radiator panels, or both. Hinged, fold-out units can house the microwave conversion electronics and the antenna for transmitting the microwave radiation to the remote ground station.

Thermally efficient power conversion modules for space solar power

A passive intermodulation modulation reducing structure for a multicarrier reflector system, including a plurality of flexible reflector gores, each gore having a thin layer of conductive metal, a first layer of dielectric material laminated to one face of the conductive metal, and a second layer of dielectric material laminated to an opposite face of the conductive metal. Capacitive coupling joins the reflector's RF components. The structure can be a deployable parabolic reflector for a satellite antenna.

A high frequency signal calibration target deployable in outer space includes an expandable and electrically conductive symmetric structure. The structure may mechanically expand from a stowed configuration to a deployed configuration. Scatter of high frequency signal off of a substantially symmetric signal calibration target may be measured to accurately calibrate systems using high frequency signals.

A method is provided for embedding electronic components including electrochemical cells within a circuit board substrate. The method includes micromachining the printed circuit board substrate to a selective depth to form a recess. A component is inserted into the recess and an electrical connection is established between the electrical component and a metallized pattern of the circuit board substrate using, e.g., laser direct-write.
