One embodiment of a technique for generating an image for a geographic location comprises receiving a current geographic location of a mobile device. The technique also includes obtaining a plurality of candidate templates, each candidate template associated with a geographic usage location defining a geographic area to which the candidate template applies. The technique also includes identifying a candidate template with a geographic usage location that matches the current geographic location of the mobile device as an identified template. The technique further includes receiving, from the mobile device, a modified image, the modified image combining in an overlapping fashion the identified template and a source image captured on the mobile device at the current geographic location of the mobile device. The technique further includes, in response to receiving the modified image from the mobile device, automatically distributing the modified image to ones of a plurality of other devices.

Medium and device for generating an image for a geographic location

Systems, methods, and computer-readable medium are described for operating servers and mobile devices. A mobile device may send a template request including a geographic location to a server device. Based on the received geographic location, the server device may match the template request with a template tagged with a usage location matching the received geographic location. The server device may provide the mobile device with the template wherein the mobile device may combine the template with an image captured at the geographic location. The mobile device may provide the server device with the modified image for distribution to other mobile devices.

System and device for generating a check-in image for a geographic location

Methods and Devices are disclosed for performing automatic check-ins for a user associated with a mobile device. In some embodiments, the process is completely automated with no user intervention once the process has started. In some embodiments, the user is prompted for confirmation before the check-in is generated. The automatic check-in is performed based on detecting a social context which includes a current location of the user of the mobile device and applying rules. The rules may include an action part, a condition part, and qualifier part. The rules and the individual parts of the rules may be independently editable by the user.

Automatic check-ins and status updates

A system and method are disclosed for providing location-based wagering. In one embodiment, wagerable data associated with a location of a first user is identified. The wagerable data may be any type of data on which a wager may be based. Then, a wager recommendation is generated based on the wagerable data and returned to the first user. The first user defines a wager, and the wager is published to one or more second users located in proximity to the first user. Each of the one or more second users is enabled to accept the wager if desired. In addition, one or more winners and one or more losers of the wager may be identified and payout may then be effected.

A computerized system and method for changing the textual length of an electronic text content while maintaining the meaning of the electronic text content is disclosed. The system includes an electronic reader, or e-reader, device having an electronic touch screen for displaying an electronic text content and for receiving a user touch gesture for identifying a portion of the electronic text content targeted for a textual length change, and a semantic server programmed to receive requests for a semantic text alternative for a targeted electronic text content identified by way of the e-reader device and to determine a semantic alternative electronic text content for the targeted electronic text content, wherein the determined semantic alternative electronic text has a different textual length than the targeted electronic text content, and for replacing the targeted electronic text content displayed by the e-reader device with the determined semantic alternative electronic text content.

E-reader semantic text manipulation

A gatekeeper function is employed to control communications intended for a target user, who is associated with an electronic reader (e-reader) device. The gatekeeper function detects an attempt for an originating user to communicate with the target user. Upon detecting the attempt to communicate with the target user, the gatekeeper function determines a communication processing action that controls how to handle the communication attempt based on e-reader session information that is collected while the target user is engaged in an e-reader session. The gatekeeper function will then effect the communication processing action to control how the communication attempt is to be handled.
