An air mover system for use in an indoor unit of a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system includes a blower comprising a motor and a blower control unit configured to control operations of the motor. The blower control unit includes a controller and a sensor communicably coupled to the controller. The sensor is configured to sense air inside the indoor unit and to provide sensor information to the controller. The controller is configured to determine whether a refrigerant is present in the air based on the sensor information and to control the blower to move the air out of the indoor unit in response to determining that the refrigerant is present in the air.

An air heating and cooling system includes (1) a heat pump, illustratively devoid of auxiliary electric resistance type air heating structure, operative to provide refrigerant-based heating or cooling of air being delivered to a conditioned space, (2) a fuel-fired modular blower selectively operable to generate combustion heat, and (3) a control system associated with the heat pump and the modular blower. The control system has a heat pump thermostat electrically connected to a modular blower control and operative to transmit to the modular blower a first signal indicative of heating operation of the heat pump, and a second signal indicative of a need for alternative heat during a heating demand cycle. The modular blower is operative, in response to receiving both signals, to provide combustion-based air heating in place of refrigerant-based heat pump air heating.

Housing is provided for electronic circuitry that monitors the operation of a compressor. The housing includes a module containing the electrical circuitry as well as electrical connectors that connected the circuitry to external wiring. The module is mounted to an external housing member. The wiring inserts through an opening in the external housing member before being connect to the electrical connectors associated with the electronic module. Further openings in the housing member receive conduits carrying further wiring. The conduits extend outwardly from the housing member so as to allow the wiring in the conduits to be supported for an appreciable distance from the housing. A removable housing member is connected to the aforementioned housing member so as to cover the wiring connected to the electrical connectors associated with the electronic module. The removable housing member is easily removed from the aforementioned housing member so as to thereby allow access to the various connections of wiring to the electrical connectors associated with the electronic module.

Compressor electronics housing

An electronic pressure sensor is incorporated into a discharge pressure portion of a compressor. If the pressure sensor indicates that the discharge pressure exceeds a maximum value, the operation of the compressor motor is stopped. The pressure sensor preferably sends an electronic signal to a microprocessor such that the pressure can be compared to a predetermined maximum value. The pressure sensor includes a transducer to change the sensed pressure to a voltage value. The microprocessor communicates with a first switch, which may be a triac switch, and which stops operation of the compressor motor should an undesirably high value be detected. In addition, a second switch communicates with a comparing circuit which ensures the voltage from the pressure sensor is between a minimum and maximum value. The purpose of the comparing circuit is to ensure proper operation of the pressure sensor and its associated circuit.
