A set of numeric values may be represented using a data structure. The data structure is a graph having a root and leaves. A route in the data structure may represent a mask that represents a set of values. A mask may represent a term in a DNF representation of numeric values. A mask may represent numeric values that correspond to limitations set by the mask, such as having a predetermined value in a predetermined digit. The data structure comprises edges and nodes, each may be associated with a label. The label may represent a portion of a mask.

Representation of a set of numeric values in a computerized environment

A computer-implemented method for modeling a target system includes defining a conditional constraint satisfaction problem (CondCSP) that characterizes the target system in terms of problem variables and constraints applicable to the problem variables. The constraints include conditional constraints, such that the variables associated with the conditional constraints each have a respective activity status. Existence variables are defined to represent the respective activity status of the variables associated with each of the one or more conditional constraints. A solution to the CondCSP is found by determining an assignment of the problem variables and the existence variables that satisfies the constraints.

Conditional CSP solving using constraint propagation

A method for solving a constraint satisfaction problem includes receiving a set of variables having respective input domains and a set of relations among the variables, and building a network of one or more hyper-arcs representative of the set of relations, each hyper-arc corresponding to one of the relations and linking nodes in the network corresponding to the variables that are subject to the relation. For each of the hyper-arcs, the variables are assembled in a hierarchy based on the relation corresponding to the hyper-arc. The input domains of the variables in the hierarchy are reduced, so as to determine respective output domains of the variables that are consistent with the relations.
