A three-dimensional (3D) measuring system and a method of determining a distance is provided. A three-dimensional (3D) measuring system includes a master part having a first base part and a first part-under-test including a second base. A photogrammetry camera images the master part to generate two-dimensional (2D) images. A first 3D imager determines 3D coordinates in a first imager frame of reference. A second 3D imager determines 3D coordinates in a second imager frame of reference. The system determines in a system frame of reference a first pose of the first imager and a second pose of the second imager. The system is further configured to determine 3D coordinates of the first part-under-test in the system frame of reference.

A laser projector steers an outgoing beam of light onto an object, passing light returned from the object through a focusing lens onto an aperture rigidly coupled to an optical detector.

Background light suppression for a laser projector

A three-dimensional (3D) measuring system and a method of determining a distance is provided. The 3D measuring system includes a display and an imager device. The imager device having a projector, a first camera and a second camera arranged in a predetermined geometric relationship, the first and second camera each having a photosensitive array with a plurality of pixels that transmit a signal in response to a wavelength of light. The projector projects a pattern that includes at least one element. The system further having one or more processors operably coupled to the display, the projector, and the first and second camera. The processors are responsive to computer instructions for determining a distance to the at least one element and changing an indicator on the display corresponding to the distance relative to a predetermined projector-to-object distance.

Optical scanner

A solid-state imager is mounted in a reader, such as a bi-optical, dual window, point-of-transaction workstation, for capturing light along an optical axis over a field of view from coded indicia. An optical assembly including non-rotationally symmetrical optics is operative for optically modifying and asymmetrically magnifying an image of the indicia and the field of view of the imager along mutually orthogonal directions generally perpendicular to the optical axis, and for increasing resolution of the imager along one of the directions. Preferably, the non-rotationally symmetrical optics includes a cylindrical lens having an aspherical profile along the one direction, and a planar profile along the other of the directions.

Imaging reader with asymmetrical magnification

An apparatus and method for imaging a target, includes a housing having a presentation area, a solid-state imaging sensor having an imaging array of image sensors looking at a field of view that extends through the presentation area to the target, and an imaging lens assembly for capturing return light over the field of view from the target through the presentation area, and for projecting the captured return light onto the imaging array during imaging of the target. The assembly has a plurality of lenses, an aperture stop, and a holder for holding the lenses and the aperture stop in spaced relation along an optical axis. The aperture stop has a non-rotationally symmetrical aperture through which the optical axis extends. Alignment elements on the imaging lens assembly are used to align the non-rotationally symmetrical aperture with the imaging array.

Apparatus for and method of aligning non-rotationally symmetrical imaging lens aperture with an imaging sensor in an imaging reader

A multicamera imaging-based bar code reader wherein for least one camera assembly of the reader, a sensor array of the camera assembly is non-orthogonal with respect to an optical axis of an imaging lens assembly of the camera assembly such that an imaging or scanning volume of the camera assembly more closely conforms to a desired imaging field or region of the reader. In one exemplary embodiment the reader features: a housing supporting first and second transparent presentation windows and defining an interior region; an imaging system including a plurality of camera assemblies within the interior region, at least one camera assembly includes a sensor array and an imaging lens assembly, the sensor array being positioned with respect to the imaging lens assembly at an angle so as to be non-orthogonal with respect to an optical axis of the imaging lens assembly of the camera assembly.
