A media cartridge including a first substantially rectangular surface, a second substantially rectangular surface, and one or more side surfaces, where the first substantially rectangular surface and the second substantially rectangular surface are connected by the one or more side surfaces. Further, a disk drive assembly is enclosed by the first substantially rectangular surface, the second substantially rectangular surface, and the one or more side surfaces. In addition, the media cartridge includes a cooling component is configured to cool the disk drive assembly.

A media drive system includes a housing and a drive unit at least partially disposed within the housing. A media handler arrangement defines a plurality of queuing positions for media objects, and a receiving area within the housing receives storage units defining at least one other queuing position. The drive system reduces latency through the use of the queuing positions to speed transfer and access to media objects.

A thermal transfer apparatus for cooling a heat-producing electronic component includes an evaporator disposed over the heat-producing electronic component and thermally coupled to the heat-producing electronic component, a plurality of heat pipes carrying a working fluid therein disposed over the evaporator and thermally coupled to the evaporator, a cold plate thermally coupled to a first end of the plurality of heat pipes, and a condenser thermally coupled to a second end of the plurality of heat pipes. The heat pipes extend over the evaporator such that the first end and the second end of the heat pipes couple to the cold plate and condenser at a location not over the heat-producing electronic component. The cold plate and the condenser are supplied with a coolant from outside the thermal transfer apparatus.

The failure of a data center liquid cooling system can result in a rapid temperature rise in electronic components that may either damage a component, result in the loss of data housed within the component, or both. A supplemental liquid cooling system is placed within each rack serviced by a data center cooling system to mitigate such a failure. Coolant flow is monitored to determine whether the data center liquid cooling system has, for a particular rack, failed. Upon determination of failure, the supplemental liquid cooling system is initiated to reduce the thermal rise of the electronic components within the rack allowing them to conduct an organized and complete shutdown.

A method and apparatus for a thermally conductive packaging technique for cooling electronic systems. A heat source is partially surrounded by a set of thermal transfer media. A set of thermal transfer shells partially surround the set of thermal transfer media. The heat source connection means are left exposed and utilized for connection to the electronic system. The heat source, the set of thermal transfer media configured to partially surround the heat source, and the thermal transfer shell partially surrounding the set of thermal transfer media form a thermal transfer module. Thermal transfer modules may be placed in thermally conductive cells. A set of thermal transfer sheets are placed in contact with both or either of the thermal transfer module and the thermally conductive cell, facilitating a heat exchange with an environment external to the thermal transfer module.

An EMI shielding gasket for reducing the amount of force required during the mounting process. The present invention provides an extended lip feature on the gasket to facilitate the installation process and to function as a lead-in, such that less force is required by the assembler when mounting the EMI gasket. As less manipulation may be required to install the gaskets, gaskets may be mounted correctly more often, thereby preventing the occurrence of EMI leakage. The present invention also reduces the possibility that the EMI gaskets may become damaged due to excess manipulation, and assemblers may experience fewer physical problems related to manipulating the gaskets. By reducing the amount of force required to mount the EMI gaskets, the present invention may increase productivity by decreasing assembly time, decrease rework of improperly assembled or damaged gaskets, and reduce health risks and subsequent insurance claims of assemblers during manufacturing.
