Pneumatic safety valve

An improved shaft safety pneumatic valve system in combination with a pneumatic expanding core shaft, is provided. The valve system provides a threaded air valve with a disk threadingly engaging the threaded air valve and a corresponding adapter fitted onto an air gun and adapted to engage the threaded air valve via the threaded disk. The threaded disk acts as a shroud about the air valve preventing an operator's finger from entering the bearing tube aperture to release air from the air valve.

Shaft safety valve system

A core end protector comprised of a shock absorber and an annular, rigid attachment section that is attached to each end of a cardboard tissue core is provided. The core end protectors are securely mounted on the ends of the core. The outer diameter of the core end protector matches the outer diameter of the core. The inner diameter matches the inner diameter of the core. The core end protectors are made both with a rigid base section that mates to the core end face and a softer, shock absorbing section that comes in contact with external forces and impact loads. One single material or a plurality of materials may be used.

Winding core end protector

A monitoring system for pneumatic shafts and pneumatic shaft adapters. A sensor assembly is physically joined in operative engagement with the bladders of pneumatic shafts and adapters. Sensed data is wirelessly transmitted to a remote receiver for processing and display.

Monitoring system for pneumatic core shafts and shaft adapters

A safety chuck mounted to equipment that process web material is provided. The safety chuck is provided with a die spring connecting a moveable jaw with a spindle, said spring urging the moveable jaw into a fully closed position. A number of magnets mounted on a mounting flange will engage the moveable jaw, overcoming the spring's force and holding the moveable jaw in a fully open position. Rotation of the spindle releases the magnets allowing the spring to force the moveable jaw back into a fully closed position.

Safety chuck

An expandable, self-adjusting core plug which will maintain a fit between core plug and an out-of-round web roll core. The present invention accomplishes this by providing a core plug with a number of individual, elongated beveled ribs and a corresponding beveled spindle, both of which cooperatively and axially adjust the thickness of the core plug to meet variations in the inner diameter of the core.

Expandable core plug

A core plug includes a tube formed from a light-weight material, such as woven carbon fibers, inserted into and connected to a steel rib assembly. The rib assembly includes a series of ribs surrounding the tube, where each rib includes a beam parallel to the tube and columns connecting the beams to the tube. The tube can extend the complete length of the rib assembly or the rib assembly can extend beyond the end of the tube. A high molecular weight journal is inserted in the outer end of the tube.
