Device, system, and method of selective activation and configuration of components. A manufactured electronic device includes at least one hardware component which is locked or disabled or deactivated, or is feature-constrained. An end-user of the electronic device utilizes a computerized platform or a cloud-based platform to request activation or upgrade of that hardware component, optionally together with paying a fee for such request. In response to the request, an access token is generated by the manufacturer of the electronic device, with cryptographic elements that indicate to the electronic device that the request is approved and authorized by the manufacturer and also by the relevant vendor or communications carrier. The electronic device validates the access token, and modifies configurational parameters in its secure storage to activate or to upgrade the capabilities of the relevant hardware components of the electronic device.

The subject matter discloses a method and a system for securely distributing a credential and encryption keys for physical devices. The system comprises a security server and a physical device. the physical device comprises a memory module configured to store a share of the credential, a communication module configured to exchange signals, and a processing module configured to execute calculations upon request received on a wireless manner via the communication module from the security server, the calculations are transmitted to the security server to execute a multi-party computation process. The multi-party computation process outputs two shares of the credential, a first share is stored in the physical device. The physical device does not have access to the credential.

Idle mode handling in a hybrid GSM/CDMA network

Techniques for supporting multiple potentially overlapping wireless protocols with a single electronic system are disclosed. In the description that follows, the overlapping protocols are Bluetooth and IEEE 802.11 for wireless networking; however, other overlapping protocols can be supported in a similar manner. A transaction control policy and a collision map are provided to determine which protocol to enable/disable when a conflict arises. Based on the transaction control policy and the collision map, one or more transceivers that operate according to the wireless protocols can be selectively enabled/disabled to avoid actual conflicts.

In a GSM mobile wireless telecommunications system, a method for conveying signaling between a mobile station and a base station via a CDMA air interface includes generating a signaling message based on a GSM interface standard. Data link services are provided to process the message for transmission over the CDMA air interface, and the processed message is then transmitted over the CDMA air interface. Preferably, the data link services are provided by a data link layer, which produces an IS-95 message for transmission.
