A custom shutter includes a central body portion and first and second end caps. The central body portion includes two stiles and a central portion all of which are formed integrally as one piece. The top and bottom end caps include first and second legs and a central connecting body portion. The legs are designed to be inserted within the hollow interior of the stiles with the top edges of the stiles resting against the stepped portions of said end cap and wherein an inner surface of said end cap covers any exposed edge of the central portion of the shutter body.

Custom shutter

A vent is formed from vent panels that can be formed by injection molding or vacuum forming. The vent panels include upper and lower edges. The upper edge includes a nailing flange and a channel. The channel is coplanar with the outer surface of a nailing flange. The lower edge is a linear flange adapted to fit within the channel of the next adjacent vent panel. The vent includes a lower trim member that has a flange and a channel coplanar with the upper surface of the flange and adapted to receive the bottom edge of a vent panel. The lower trim member is designed to attach to the upper edge of vinyl siding. J channels or T channels are used then to trim out the remaining portion of the vent. This allows one to form a custom vent by combining vent panels as desired.

Injection moldable composite gable vent

A collapsible foldable rack includes left and right scissors-type frames with dowel rods extending between the scissors-type frames. The dowel rods are attached to inner arms of the scissors-type frame by brackets that allow the rods to rotate relative to the frame. The brackets on one side of the frame allow the rods to rotate in one direction, whereas the brackets on the opposite frame member allow the rods to rotate in the opposite direction. The brackets also space the rods relative to each other to prevent adjacent rods from interfering with each other when the structure is folded. The device both collapses into a rectangular structure and then folds upon itself to provide a very compact structure for storage and reduce freight costs.

An exterior mounting block for electrical fixtures includes a plastic block having a nailing flange and screw holes adapted to support either a duplex outlet or a light fixture. The holes are spaced either along the central axis of the block for a duplex, or spaced diagonally relative to each other on sidewalls to support a light fixture. The block is formed from a white, fire-resistant material and includes a cover plate formed from a non-fire-resistant material or from a metal material.

Exterior mounting block for electrical fixtures

A dryer vent designed to prevent bird and rodent ingress through the vent and further to prevent lint build-up includes a flap which has an edge portion recessed within the main body of the vent preventing birds and rodents from grasping the flap and opening it. Further, the dryer vent includes a rotating member such as a paddlewheel or a fan blade which rotates in response to air flowing through the vent thereby frightening birds and rodents.

Dryer vent

A multi-piece structure for mounting an electrical fixture to the side of a building. The structure includes an electrical box having four side walls and locating supports extending radially from said side wall. This fits within the inside of a mounting block with an intermediate plate between the front wall of the mounting block and the opening surface of the electrical box. The electrical box and plate can be formed from fire resistant material permitting the mounting block to be formed from a non-fire rated material. A metal plate can be positioned over the mounting block to provide the appearance of a brass structure. The structure includes two pairs of mounting holes permitting one to attach light fixtures or electrical outlets.

A replacement dryer vent for remodelers includes a typical exterior vent portion and an interior tube portion. The tube portion extends into the building and has an internal diameter that increases towards its innermost edge, i.e., toward the interior of the building. The extension is designed to slip over an existing cylindrical duct already in a wall. This allows one to replace an existing dryer vent by simply removing the exterior vent portion and leaving the duct work in position. The new vent is simply inserted in the existing hole with the tube slipping over the duct making a tight connection.

Quick connect dryer vent

A shutter assembly which includes separate top and bottom portions and intermediate slatted portions. The top and bottom portions both include right and left side flanges which include inner and outer channels. Likewise the slatted portion includes a right and left sides which include right and left channels which align with the inner channels on the top and bottom members. Right and left side rails snap fit into the three sections holding them together. The inner wall of the rails snap into the inner channels and the channel in the slatted portion. The inner walls of the side rails include upper arcuate lips that extend over the top edges of the side walls of the top, bottom and slatted sections. The outer wall of each rail includes an L-shaped projection which fits within the outer channels in the flanges. The shutter can be adjusted by removing sections of the slatted portions along pre-formed score lines and then cutting rails to the desired size. Shutters are then assembled and mounted to a building surface. The inner and outer channels prevent the flanges from spreading out, and standing ribs keep the rail from collapsing when screwing down, providing a natural appearance. The configuration of the inner channels facilitates the ease of assembly.

Shutter assembly

A shutter assembly having a main body with slats, vertical stiles and end caps that allow the length of the shutter assembly to be varied. The end caps are attached to the upper and lower ends of the main body by aligning apertures in the end caps with one of a plurality of apertures spaced vertically on the ends of the stiles. The end caps each have a first and a second panel that can be reversibly displayed as an outer surface of the shutter. An inner surface of the stiles has fastener pins protruding therefrom, allowing the shutter assembly to be mounted to a building structure.

A trim assembly for finishing a utility fixture extending through an exterior wall of a building. The trim assembly includes two base sections each having a cutout section for receiving one side of the utility fixture. The base sections are spread apart, slipped over the utility fixture and brought together around the utility fixture. The base is nailed to the building, and siding or another exterior is applied to the building and around the base. The trim assembly includes a trim cover which is mounted on the base sections to cover the interface between the siding and the base sections.

A shutter assembly is provided which includes a body portion and separate top and bottom caps. The length of the shutter is adjusted by sliding the caps so they cover more or less of the shutter body. The caps and body portion are then screwed to a building wall.

A passive roof vent is provided with a planar upper surface which includes channels on the sides and bottom of the panel to hold shingles. The side channels are stepped to permit two layers of shingles to be inserted over the top surface and provide a shingled appearance. This provides an aesthetically appealing roof vent which has an upper surface which blends in with a shingled roof.

A shutter assembly is provided which includes a body portion and separate top and bottom caps. The length of the shutter is adjusted by sliding the caps so they cover more or less of the shutter body. The caps and body portion are then screwed to a building wall. The inside surfaces of the caps include grooves which mate with the outside surface of the sides of the shutter body. This keeps the caps aligned with the shutter body as the length is adjusted.

A shutter assembly is provided which includes a body portion and separate top and bottom caps. The length of the shutter is adjusted by sliding the caps so they cover more or less of the shutter body. The caps and body portion are then screwed to a building wall. The length of the shutter assembly can also be adjusted by cutting upper and lower portions of this body portion of the shutter. The cut is then covered by preformed caps which fit over the shutter body portion, thus totally concealing the cut. Thus, the shutter can be adjusted at the job site and the end caps will assure the quality of the end product.

A channel for lapped siding includes an elongated nailing strip and an abutment strip with an upper cover strip. This provides a generally C-shaped cross-section. Inside the channel is a rectangular tab that extends at an angle away from the nailing strip up to the cover strip. The channel is nailed to a building. Lapped siding is also nailed to the building with edges of the siding positioned in the channel. The edge of the siding is slit horizontally to allow the tab to intersect the edge of the siding. Any water that gets into the channel will run along this tab away from the building wall to an exterior surface of the siding. This keeps the water from flowing behind the siding.
