The present disclosure is related to an occlusion device having a mesh structure. The occlusion device configured to transition between a two-dimensional configuration and a three-dimensional configuration. In the two-dimensional configuration and at rest, the occlusion device is flat or planar. In the three-dimensional configuration, the occlusion device defines an internal volume.

System and methods for embolized occlusion of neurovascular aneurysms

In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a stent for insertion into a vessel of a patient. The stent is a tubular member having front and back open ends and a longitudinal axis extending there between. The tubular member has a first smaller diameter for insertion into a patient and navigation through the vessels, and a second larger diameter for deployment into the target area of a vessel. The tubular member is made from a plurality of adjacent hoops extending between the front and back ends. The hoops include a plurality of longitudinal struts and a plurality of loops connecting adjacent struts. The stent further includes a plurality of bridges having loop to bridge connections which connect adjacent hoops to one another. The bridge to loop connection points are separated angularly with respect to the longitudinal axis. The bridges have one end attached to a loop, another end attached to a loop on an adjacent hoop. The connection point between the bridge and the hoops will have a repeating pattern over a plurality of strut apices such that the benefits of a decreased number of bridges is realized while simultaneously avoiding the creation of overly unconstrained hoops. It is preferred that the ratio of total number of circumferentially aligned loops to the number of loops spanned by a particular bridge be a whole number.

Intraluminal device with improved flexibility and durability

Medical devices having bonded joints are disclosed. The bonded joints include two surfaces bonded by a layer of phenoxy resin therebetween. In the preferred embodiments, bonded surfaces include materials that are suitable for medical devices. Most preferably, Nitinol includes at least one bonded surface, however, other preferred materials may include, but are not limited to cobalt chromium, stainless steel, titanium, tantalum, and plastic. An intraluminal device including a plurality of locations with a phenoxy resin layer is also disclosed wherein the phenoxy resin further includes a radioopaque additive, a lubricious additive, or both radioopaque and lubricious additives. Also disclosed is an intraluminal device having contiguous heterogeneous structural elements of metallic members and non-metallic sections that are bonded together by a layer of phenoxy resin therebetween.

Medical device having bonding regions and method of making the same

Medical devices comprised of bonded joints are disclosed. The bonded joints comprise two surfaces bonded by a layer of phenoxy resin therebetween. In the preferred embodiments, bonded surfaces are comprised of materials that are suitable for medical devices. An apparatus for delivering an implant within a lumen or passageway is provided. The apparatus comprises a flexible, hollow outer member having an elongated section that is inserted into and navigated through the lumen of passageway. The implant is mounted within the distal end of the elongated section. An elongated fluid chamber is defined within the outer member between two valves or seals. The valves or seals permit fluid flow in a pre-determined direction during loading of fluid into the chamber, but prevent fluid to exit the chamber during deployment of the implant. A shaft is in contact with the proximal end of the fluid column. During deployment, the shaft is held in a fixed position and the outer member actuated in a proximal direction. The implant exerts compressive forces on the outer member as it is actuated proximally. These forces are transmitted to the fluid column which resists buckling.

Implant delivery apparatus

A method for pre-loading an implant delivery apparatus and for delivering an implant is provided. An implant is mounted within the distal end of an elongated section of a delivery apparatus. After the implant is mounted within the elongated section, fluid is drawn into a chamber within the delivery apparatus that is proximal to the implant. This is accomplished by drawing fluid, such as a biocompatible liquid, into the chamber by applying pressure to a port. The fluid is trapped inside the chamber forming a liquid column. The elongated section is advanced through a lumen or passageway delivering the implant to a desired location. A shaft, which is in communication with the fluid column, is held stationary and the elongated section retracted deploying the implant. As the elongated section is retracted, the implant exerts forces upon the elongated section that are transmitted to the fluid column which resists buckling.
