An apparatus and method for modeling an acoustic sound in an electric stringed musical instrument is provided. A preferred embodiment, among others, includes a bridge sensor configured to sensing string vibrations at the bridge of the instrument so that a bridge signal is generated in accordance with the vibrating strings. A body sensor, which may be positioned at different points on or within the body of the instrument, senses the resonance of the string vibrations. The body sensor generates a body resonance signal in accordance with the sensed resonance. An amplification circuit amplifies the body resonance signal when the amplitude of bridge signal exceeds a first predetermined level. In addition, a second amplification circuit amplifies the bridge signal. A summing circuit adds the amplified body resonance signal with the amplified bridge signal to produce an output signal that, when replicated in sound, models the sound of an acoustic instrument.

Acoustic modeling apparatus and method

A musical instrument pickup having a central core bobbin with a first winding wound around the central core bobbin and a second winding wound around the first winding. Both ends of each winding are attached to a respective termination point. Each termination point is connected to an amplification source wherein the tones of the instrument strings are amplified.

A bridge for attaching strings to a musical instrument. The bridge has a body comprised of a base and a main portion with saddle chambers formed in the main portion. Holes are formed within the saddle chambers. Each saddle chamber houses a saddle members therein. The saddle members have adjusting elements that both adjust the position of the string by changing the position of the saddle member, and adjust the position of the string on the saddle member. A plurality of coupling screws secure the bridge to the body of the instrument. Strings are threaded over the saddle member, through the bridge and out through the compression screws where they are secured or knotted.

A guitar bridge having a body comprised of a base and a main portion with a plurality of slots formed in the main portion of the body. A plurality of holes are formed in the body and located within the plurality of slots. A resonance chamber is formed in the main portion of the body. A plurality of coupling screws secure the body of the bridge to the body of the musical instrument. Strings are threaded through the bridge and through the compression screws so that dual compression of the bridge is achieved with the use of a two-way pressure system formed by the pressure of the coupling screws and the instrument strings.

A mounting ring-thumbrest is provided for an electric guitar. The article provides a mounting ring for securing a pickup to the guitar and a thumbrest. The thumbrest is located to provide the optimum position of a player's hand. A method of mounting a pickup uses only two screws to secure the mounting ring-thumbrest and pickup to the guitar and allows the space between the strings and the pickup to be adjustable.
