A spinning machine and method are provided for feeding a sliver end of a sliver deposited in a can to a spinning position of the spinning machine, wherein the spinning machine includes a plurality of adjacently arranged spinning positions and a plurality of cans arranged in at least a first row under the spinning positions. With a sliver gripper of a robot, the method includes seeking the sliver end from one of the cans in an area that includes at least one adjacent spinning position to a spinning position to be supplied. The sliver end is grasped with the sliver gripper and fed to the spinning position to be supplied.

Method for feeding a sliver end, and spinning machine

A textile machine, especially a spinning preparation machine, with a drafting system for drafting a fiber strand fed to the textile machine, includes a compressor arranged downstream from the drafting system in a transportation direction of the fiber strand for compressing the fiber strand. A draw-off device is arranged downstream from the compressor for drawing off the drafted fiber strand. At least one entrance cylinder is provided that can be powered by a drive and one exit cylinder that can be powered by a drive. The draw-off device comprises at least one draw-off disk that can be powered by a drive. Means are provided to the textile machine to change the ratio of the circumferential speeds of the exit cylinder and the draw-off disk (=tension draft (A)) while the drafting system is operated, at least during a part of its starting phase and/or its stopping phase.

Different improvements of a spinning preparation machine are proposed to measure the fiber sliver thickness or the fiber sliver cross-section of at least one fiber sliver by means of one or several microwave sensors. One improvement is characterized by compressing means and special mechanical guiding elements that can be installed before, after and/or in the microwave sensor. It is also proposed to install a pair of conveyor rollers after a microwave sensor that can be designed in particular as an input roller pair of the subsequent drafting equipment. Furthermore, proposals are made for the calibration of the (at least one) microwave sensor.

Spinning preparation machine

A method and device for the evaluation of signals of a sensor, in particular of a microwave sensor, is proposed for the detection of the thickness, mass, density and/or moisture of at least one fiber sliver moving relative to the sensor on drafting equipment. A high-frequency unit assigned to the sensor produces a number of first digital signals in digital form of the current state of the (at least one) fiber sliver. The method according to the invention is characterized in that a second digital signal, representing the current sliver thickness or sliver mass of the (at least one) fiber sliver and which is then used to control the drafting equipment and/or to judge the fiber sliver quality, is formed according to an algorithm from the first digital signals made available. In addition a suitable device for the evaluation of the signals of a sensor is proposed.

Method and device to evaluate signals of a sensor to monitor a textile machine

A given plurality of empty round (cylindrical) cans are brought by a can carrier into an empty can magazine of a textile machine which produces a band output. These cans are taken from the can carrier, one after another, to be filled at a filling station from whence filled cans are sequentially moved to a just emptied can carrier in a full can magazine. This can carrier, after the receipt of a given plurality of filled cans, are transported out of the full can magazine. Subsequently, the can carrier, which, in the intervening time, has been emptied and is now to be found in the empty can magazine, is transported by means of an elevated crossover into the full can magazine, which has become free. For the well-timed release of a can carrier loaded with empty cans as well as the transporting of a can carrier from the filling operation loaded with filled cans, there is a Hold Station serving as a buffer zone for an empty can with its can carrier. There is also a Removal Station serving as another buffer station for a loaded can carrier carrying filled cans. Cans other than round ones may be used.

Apparatus for the simulataneous transportation of a group of fiber band cans

The present invention concerns a procedure for the simultaneous transportation of one group of cans (31, 310, 311) in a row from a can rack (6, 60, 61)--the cans (3) being capable of being filled with fiber band--to a frame machine (2) and/or to another textile machine (4) or to a can depot (5). The group of cans (31, 310, 311) is brought in common with the can rack (6, 60, 61) for the filling of said cans (3) into a first work station (A.sub.1) on the frame machine (2). The can rack (6, 60, 61) remains at that point during the filling of the cans (3) of this can group (31, 310, 311) until, after the filling of all the cans (3) on the can rack, the can rack (6, 60, 61) then, once again with the cans, is transported to the additional textile machine (4) or to the can depot 5. The can rack (6, 60, 61) may, together with the can group (31, 310, 311), be brought to another work site at, for instance, the additional textile machine (4) or to a storage zone in a can depot (5), to remain there during the processing of the fiber bands which are in the cans (3) of this can group (31, 310, 311) or during the storage of said can group.

The invention relates to the filling of a flat can with fiber sliver by a textile machine which delivers a fiber sliver, such as a carding machine or a draw frame, whereby the flat can is moved under a stationary, rotating rotary plate. The invention significantly reduces the costs for the required movements of the flat can as compared to the state of the art. The process according to the invention for the traversing of a flat can during the filling process at a textile machine delivering a fiber sliver is realized in that the flat can is shifted laterally by tilting of the flat can around an axis in the return path of the traversing path. In the device according to the invention, the traversing mechanism is equipped with a tilting device. For this purpose, the tilting device is provided with a tilter and an axis around which the flat can is tilted.

The instant invention relates to the deposit of the fiber sliver end after the filling of a flat can. It is the object of the invention to deposit and prepare the sliver end in the area of the filling station on a full flat can in order to facilitate automatic handling of the flat can during transportation as well as automatic handling of the sliver end on a spinning machine at the least possible cost. The invention assumes that the positions between outlet (15) of the rotary plate (12), severing device (18) and flat can (1) in relation to each other are adjustable and that an influence on the point of deposit of the sliver end and on the length of the sliver end results from this selected setting.

Process and device for the storage of textile cans

A flat can for receiving textile fiber slivers deposited therein while a jigging motion is imparted thereto comprises can sides defining an upper can bead at the top thereof. A can plate is configured to be vertically movable within the can sides between an empty position and a full position. In the empty position the can plate is at a height lower than the upper can bead. The can plate may comprise a rim around the circumference thereof which has a top generally adjacent to the upper can bead when the can plate is at the empty position. The rim may include oppositely facing incline surfaces at the ends thereof. The can sides may also include stops defined on the inner surface thereof. The stops serve to define the upper limit of travel of the can plate within the can.

Flat can

The invention is a process and a device for the jigging of a flat can in a textile draw frame. According to the invention, the flat can is subjected to different dynamic moments in the translational movement along the jigging path. It is a characteristic of the invention that the speed is regularly modified in proximity of the reversal points (P1, P2), i.e. in the area of the reversal paths (UW1, UW2). The jigging device is provided with a driving device which renders the constant translational movement changeable in proximity of the reversal point (P1, P2). The driving device may be a servomotor controlled by a computer which serves as the control device. In another embodiment the diving device is a different, less expensive electric motor on the drive shaft of which belt pulleys capable of being coupled are installed.
