A configurable planar lighting system includes a system track and at least one, and preferably more than one, very thin profile planar light module attachable at selectable positions along the system track. The thin profile planar light module holds a very thin area light source, which is electrified when the planar fixture module is attached to the system track. The configurable planar lighting system can be mounted and configured on a wall without surrounding structures or to the underside of a counter, cabinet, shelf or the like. The configurable planar lighting system can also act as a shelf for light objects such as decorative objects, and can be used for task lighting or display lighting or both in versatile configurations. In under-structure applications, the lighting system can be mounted to provide configurable lighting without the physical parts of the system being visible at normal viewing angles.

A configurable ceiling lighting system for a grid ceiling comprising at least one and preferably a plurality of driver panels having a bottom and a defined perimeter sized to allow the driver panel to be set into and retained within the grid openings of a ceiling grid. The driver panel has at least one and preferably a plurality of electrical connectors accessible from the bottom of the driver panel. At least one and preferably a plurality of light modules are provided having a light source and an electrical connector complimentary to the electrical connectors of the panel drivers. The light modules can be operatively connected to the bottom of the ceiling panel drivers at selected connection points to produced desired arrays of ceiling lighting fixtures to meet particular lighting needs.

Configurable ceiling lighting system

A luminaire, such as a ceiling suspended luminaire, that can change its shape or some other state or characteristic based on user-input. The changes of shape or other state or characteristic can be achieved by hand gestures, such as moving the hand up and down in the detection field of a sensor. In one aspect of the invention, a suspended luminaire having a flexible sheet form is provided. The shape or attitude of the sheet form luminaire can be changed by exerting a force on one or more attachment points on the luminaire.

A cassette includes a substantially planar base plate having a first or bottom side and a second or top side. A slide channel capture ring or other retention structure is provided on the first side of the base plate for releasably retaining a planar light source to this side of the base plate. Another slide pocket, or other slide-in retention structure is provided on the second side of the base plate for coupling the cassette to a connector structure.

A lighting system having neural hubs that connect to other neural hubs in a manner that allows a lighting system to be configured in a two dimensional pattern that can propagate out from a single neural hub. Straight sections can be provided for use in connection with the neural hubs to enhance the configurability of the lighting system.
