A heat dissipating power electrical connector assembly has a contact housing, a metal contact in the housing, a heat dissipating member with a surface for heating adjacent air and a non-metal heat transmitting member for flowing heat from the contact to the heat dissipating member.

Composite electrical connector system

A base element and a surge protection system incorporating the base element are provided. The base element includes a housing having a front portion and a rear portion. Apertures in the rear portion provide access to contacts secured within the housing, and a receiving portion extending from the front portion includes at least one receiving section for receiving a surge protection cartridge. Plug receptacles in the receiving portion are in electrical communication with the contacts to incorporate the surge protection device in a circuit when the surge protection cartridge is inserted. The base element is configured to mount orthogonally to a case such that conductors secured to the contacts extend through the apertures and into an enclosure defined by the case in a substantially linear direction. The system includes a case configured to be attached to a rack mount system and a plurality of base elements secured to the case.

Coaxial connector

A coaxial connector includes a center contact, an outer contact and a dielectric insert received in the outer contact and holding the center contact. The dielectric insert may have structural features that extend axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps between the structural features. The outer contact may include a rear housing that is interchangeably coupled to either a plug housing or a jack housing at the housing interface. The center contact may be configured to be terminated by a plurality of different termination techniques in different applications.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact and a board contact coupled to the center contact that is terminated to a circuit board. An outer contact has a cavity that receives the center contact and board contact. The outer contact has a separable interface end mated to a mating connector and a terminating end mounted to the circuit board. A circuit board mount is coupled to the terminating end and electrically connects the outer contact to the circuit board. A dielectric insert is received in the cavity and includes a bore that receives and holds either the center contact or the board contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps being defined between the structural features. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the cavity.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact electrically connected to a conductor of a cable. The center contact extends along a contact axis oriented generally perpendicular to an axis of the conductor of the cable. An outer contact has a cavity and the center contact is disposed in the cavity. The outer contact has a separable interface end and a terminating end. The separable interface end and terminating end are oriented generally perpendicular to one another. A dielectric insert is received in the cavity. The dielectric insert has a bore that receives and holds the center contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert, with air gaps defined between the structural features. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the cavity.

A coaxial connector includes a center contact and an outer contact. The outer contact has a central cavity and the center contact is disposed in the central cavity. The outer contact has a mating end configured to be mated to a mating connector and a terminating end configured to be mounted to a circuit board. A circuit board mount is coupled to the terminating end and is configured to mechanically and electrically connect the outer contact to the circuit board. A dielectric insert is received in the central cavity and holds the center contact. The dielectric insert has structural features extending axially along an exterior of the dielectric insert with air gaps therebetween. The structural features engage the outer contact to secure the dielectric insert in the central cavity.

A power connector including a connector housing having an interior cavity and a mating face. The connector housing is configured to be mounted to a circuit board. The power connector also includes a contact assembly that has anode and cathode contacts that are configured to electrically engage power contacts of a mating connector. The contact assembly also includes anode and cathode terminals that are disposed in the interior cavity. The anode and cathode terminals are electrically coupled to the anode and cathode contacts, respectively, and are configured to be electrically coupled to the circuit board. The power connector also includes a power cable that has substantially flat anode and cathode conductive layers that are surrounded by an insulative jacket. The anode and cathode conductive layers are electrically coupled to the anode and cathode contacts, respectively, and are electrically parallel to the anode and cathode terminals, respectively.

Power connectors and electrical connector assemblies and systems having the same

A connector assembly that includes a base frame that extends along a longitudinal axis between a pair of frame ends. The connector assembly also includes a moveable mating side that is supported by the base frame and extends in a longitudinal direction along the longitudinal axis. The mating side has a mating array of terminals configured to communicate data signals. The connector assembly also includes a power connector that is configured to establish an electrical connection. The power connector is coupled to the mating side. Also, the connector assembly includes a coupling mechanism that is supported by the base frame and is operatively coupled to the mating side. The coupling mechanism is configured to be actuated to move the mating side between retracted and engaged positions in a mating direction with respect to the longitudinal axis.

Connector assemblies having moveable mating arrays and power connectors

An electrical connector is provided for mating with a mating connector having a mating contact. The electrical connector includes a housing having a receptacle that is configured to receive the mating contact therein from an insertion direction. An electrical contact is held within the receptacle of the housing. The electrical contact includes opposing arms and a contact finger that extends from one of the arms to the other arm. The contact finger includes a mating interface configured to engage the mating contact when the mating contact is received within the receptacle to electrically connect the electrical contact to the mating contact. The contact finger includes a segment having a length that extends at an angle relative to the insertion direction. The segment includes at least a portion of the mating interface. The electrical contact is configured to electrically connect to the mating contact when the mating contact is inserted into the receptacle of the housing in the insertion direction.

Electrical connector for mating in two directions

A coaxial cable connector includes an elongated body extending in a longitudinal direction between a mating end and a cable end. The coaxial cable connector also includes a center contact held by the body. A locking member is circumferentially disposed around the body at the mating end. The locking member has teeth configured to mechanically engage a threaded area of a mating connector to securely attach the coaxial cable connector to the mating connector. The locking member is slidably coupled to the body such that the locking member moves with respect to the body along the longitudinal direction to enable the teeth to align with the threaded area along the longitudinal direction.

Snap-on coaxial cable connector

An electrical connector includes a unitary housing body and a stamped and formed contact. The housing extends from a mounting side to an opposite mating side. The housing body includes a cavity extending through the housing body from the mounting side to the mating side, a contact slot, and a chamfered lead-in ramp disposed at the mating side to guide the contact pin into the cavity. The contact is held in the cavity and extends between a mating segment and a mounting segment. The mating segment is configured to receive the contact pin of the mating connector. The mounting segment is configured to mount the contact to a circuit board and includes a shoulder that is disposed proximate to the mounting side of the housing body. The shoulder engages the housing body in the contact slot to secure the contact in the housing body. A retention insert may be loaded through the mounting side into the cavity to help retain the contact in the housing and may include bumps on opposite sides to provide an interference fit in the cavity.

A high performance coaxial connector used to terminate a coaxial cable and provide an electrical connection to a mating coaxial connector is disclosed. The coaxial connector is formed with few individual parts and may be configured to provide enhanced electrical performance greater than or equal to 4 GHz.
