A control arrangement for a coolant pump of an internal combustion engine includes a control slide which controls a throughflow cross-section of an annular gap arranged between an outlet of a coolant pump impeller and a surrounding delivery duct. A control pump adapts a hydraulic pressure generated in a flow duct. An electromagnetic valve includes a first and second valve seat, a first, second and third flow connection, a closing member and an armature. The first flow connection is fluidically connected to an outlet of the control pump. The second flow connection is fluidically connected to a first pressure chamber of the control slide. The third flow connection is fluidically connected to an inlet of the coolant pump. The first valve seat is arranged between the first flow connection and the second flow connection. The second valve seat is arranged between the second flow connection and the third flow connection.

Control arrangement for a mechanically controllable coolant pump of an internal combustion engine

A coolant pump includes a conveying channel, a drive shaft, a coolant pump impeller arranged on the drive shaft, a control slide which controls a flow cross-section of an annular gap between an exit of the coolant pump impeller and the conveying channel, a side channel pump which includes a side channel pump impeller arranged on the drive shaft and a side channel having an inlet and an outlet where a pressure can be generated by the side channel pump impeller rotating, a pressure channel having a flow cross section which fluidically connects the outlet to a first pressure chamber of the control slide, a valve which closes the flow cross-section, a second pressure chamber arranged on a side of the control slide facing the coolant pump impeller, and a connection channel arranged from the side channel into the second pressure chamber between the inlet and the outlet.

A turbocharger includes a waste gate valve, a compressor, a turbine, a turbine housing which houses the turbine, a bypass channel which includes an opening cross-section, the bypass channel bypassing the turbine, a bypass channel portion formed in the turbine housing, an actuator housing which includes a separate first coolant channel having a coolant inlet port and a coolant outlet port, an electric motor arranged in the actuator housing, a transmission which includes an output shaft, the transmission being arranged in the actuator housing, and a control body coupled to the output shaft. The actuator housing is formed separately and is secured to the turbine housing. The control body controls the opening cross-section of the bypass channel.

A coolant pump for an internal combustion engine. The coolant pump includes a delivery duct, a drive shaft, a coolant pump impeller arranged on the drive shaft to rotate therewith and to convey a coolant, and an adjustable control slide which controls a throughflow cross-section of an annular gap arranged between an outlet of the coolant pump impeller and the surrounding delivery duct. The control slide comprises a first pressure chamber arranged on a side of the control slide facing away from the coolant pump impeller and a second pressure chamber arranged opposite thereto. A control pump includes a control pump impeller arranged at the drive shaft to rotate therewith. A connecting duct fluidically connects the flow duct to the second pressure chamber. A pressure duct fluidically connects the flow duct outlet to the first pressure chamber. A valve opens and closes a throughflow cross-section of the pressure duct.

Coolant pump for an internal combustion engine

A method for controlling a coolant pump for an engine includes delivering a coolant via a coolant pump impeller into a delivery duct to a pump outlet, and adjusting the delivery based on a position of an adjustable control slide which controls a throughflow cross-section of an annular gap between the coolant pump impeller outlet and the delivery duct. A first pressure chamber on a side of the control slide is filled with a pressurized coolant to decrease the throughflow cross-section and the coolant volume flow delivered to the pump outlet, or a second pressure space arranged on an opposite side is filled with the pressurized coolant to increase the throughflow cross-section and the coolant volume flow delivered to the pump outlet. The control slide is moved into a defined position when the engine is switched off dependent on a coolant temperature and remains in that position until a restart.

Method for controlling a mechanically controllable coolant pump for an internal combustion engine

A coolant pump for an internal combustion engine includes a delivery duct, a drive shaft, a coolant pump impeller arranged on the drive shaft to covey a coolant into the delivery duct, a control slide which controls a cross-section of an annular gap arranged between an outlet of the coolant pump impeller and the delivery duct, a side channel pump with a side channel pump impeller arranged on the drive shaft and a side channel, a pressure duct comprising a cross-section which fluidically connects an outlet of the side channel to a first pressure chamber of the control slide, a valve which opens and closes the cross-section of the pressure duct, and a first housing part arranged to have the side channel be formed therein and the control slide slidingly guided thereon. The coolant pump impeller is integrally formed with the side channel pump impeller.

A turbocharger includes a waste gate valve, a compressor with a turbine, a turbine housing which houses the turbine, a bypass channel with an opening cross-section, a bypass channel portion formed in the turbine housing, an actuator housing with a separate coolant channel, an electric motor arranged in the actuator housing, a transmission with an output shaft, the transmission being arranged in the actuator housing and being provided as a worm wheel gear unit, and a control body coupled to the output shaft of the transmission. The bypass channel bypasses the turbine. The actuator housing is removably secured to the turbine housing. The control body controls the opening cross-section of the bypass channel.

A turbocharger includes a waste gate valve, a compressor, a turbine, a turbine housing which houses the turbine, a bypass channel which bypasses the turbine, a bypass channel section arranged in the turbine housing, an actuator housing which has a separate coolant channel, an electric motor arranged in the actuator housing, a transmission which has an output shaft, a control body coupled to the output shaft, and an actuator cover. The transmission is arranged in the actuator housing. The actuator housing is detachably secured to the turbine housing. The control body controls an opening cross-section of the bypass channel. The separate coolant channel of the actuator housing surrounds a circumference of the transmission and is closed axially by the actuator cover.
