A fan controller for a ceiling fan is provided. The fan controller includes one or more switching devices configured to selectively couple the ceiling fan to a power source. The fan controller further includes a power meter circuit and one or more control devices. The one or more control devices are configured to obtain, via the power meter circuit, data indicative of power consumption of a fan motor of the ceiling. The one or more control devices are configured to determine the fan motor is configured in a first mode of a plurality of modes for the fan motor based, at least in part, on the data indicative of power consumption. The one or more control devices are configured to provide a notification to manipulate an input device on the ceiling fan to switch the fan motor from the first mode to a second mode of the plurality of modes.

Fan speed and light state detection for ceiling fans

A fan controller for a ceiling fan is provided. The fan controller includes one or more switching devices configured to selectively couple the ceiling fan to a power source. The fan controller includes a first capacitor having a first capacitance and a second capacitor having a second capacitance that is larger than the first capacitance. The fan controller includes a power meter circuit and one or more control devices. The one or more control devices are configured to obtain, via the power meter circuit, data indicative of electrical power a fan motor of the ceiling fan draws from the power source. The one or more control devices are configured determine a size of the fan motor based on the data. The one or more control devices are configured to select the first capacitor or the second capacitor as a selected capacitor based on the determined size of the fan motor.

Systems and methods associated with smart devices

Voice responsive in-wall devices are provided. In one example implementation, a power switch includes a housing mountable on or at least partially within a surface. The housing can have a front panel. The power switch can include an interface element disposed on the front panel and operable to receive a user input. The power switch can include a power interrupter operable to control power delivery to the powered load based at least in part on interaction with the interface element. The power switch can include one or more microphones operable to obtain audio input. The power switch can include one or more speakers configured to provide audio output. The power switch can include a communications interface operable to communicate data associated with the audio input over a communication link.

A water sensor comprises a housing including a top portion and a bottom portion; a controller positioned within the housing; a power source electrically coupled to the controller to energize the controller; and a continuity sensor electrically coupled to the controller and including an inner arcuate portion and an outer arcuate portion, the inner arcuate portion having an electrically conductive surface spanning at least 300 degrees, the outer arcuate portion having an electrically conductive surface spanning at least 300 degrees and substantially surrounding the inner arcuate portion to define an elongate gap therebetween, wherein the water sensor is structured to transition from a first logical state to a second logical state responsive to water bridging the elongate gap, and wherein the controller is structured to transmit a wireless water detection signal responsive to the water sensor transitioning to the second logical state.

A dimmer switch includes a dimmer circuit configured to output a dimming control signal to control one or more dimmable light sources of a lighting fixture. The dimmer switch includes a power metering circuit configured to monitor power consumption of the one or more dimmable light source. The dimmer switch includes one or more control devices. A power switch configured to control power delivery to a load is provided. The power switch can include a switching element configured to selectively couple the load to a power source. The power switch can include a power metering circuit. The power switch can include a communication circuit configured to provide communication between the power switch and at least one other device. The power switch can include a control device. The control device can obtain data from the power metering circuit. The data can be indicative of power consumption by the load. The control device can determine whether the power consumption exceeds a threshold associated with a power rating for the power switch for a time greater than a threshold period. The control device can perform one or more control actions when the power consumption exceeds the threshold for greater than the threshold period.

Method for monitoring power consumption of a load coupled to a power switch

Fan systems for circulating air in a space are provided. In one example implementation, a fan system includes a canopy controller configured to be disposed within a canopy housing of a ceiling fan. The canopy controller can be configured to control operation of a motor associated with the ceiling fan. The canopy controller can have a communication interface configured to communicate using a first wireless communication protocol. The fan system can include an in-wall controller. The in-wall controller being in electrical communication with the canopy controller via one or more electrical conductors. The in-wall controller can include an interface element configured to receive a user input. The in-wall controller can be configured to communicate one or more control commands to the canopy controller using the first wireless communication protocol. The in-wall controller configured to communicate data associated with the ceiling fan via a second wireless communication protocol.

Power switching devices deliver power to at least one powered device and may command, control and/or monitor the powered device(s). The power switching devices may further bridge communications between remote devices, and for wireless devices uses wireless communication, such as, but not limited to, radio frequency (RF), Bluetooth, light, and sound frequencies, and Wi-Fi, wired and wireless internet, the cloud, and personal computing devices.
