Acoustic activity detection is provided herein. Operations of a method can include receiving an acoustic signal at a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) microphone. Based on portions of the acoustic signal being determined to exceed a threshold signal level, output pulses are generated. Further, the method can include extracting information representative of a frequency of the acoustic signal based on respective spacing between rising edges of the output pulses.

Beverage cartridges, and methods of assembly, are disclosed that include a housing, a filter extending across an interior of the housing dividing the housing into an upper portion and a lower portion, a beverage ingredient disposed within the upper portion of the housing, and a supplement ingredient disposed within the lower portion of the housing. With this configuration, beverage cartridges as provided herein can be used to prepare a mixed beverage containing the beverage ingredient as well as the supplement ingredient.

A wall panel system is provided that includes a series of interlocking wall panels with a pressure-adherent backing. The wall panels are configured to be placed on a wall in interlocking fashion, with the interlocking attributes contributing to the overall appearance of the panel. In one aspect, surface features are provided on the wood panels that add surface texture to the panel by laser burning into the surface of the wood panel. The width of the surface features can be changed by adjusting the properties of the laser, such as beam focus. The wood panels are conveniently sized so that they can be easily manipulated for interlocking placement on the wall.

An easily assembled furnishing article includes a plurality of elongated ribs having a decorative contour, a support plate and a secondary plate. A notched interface is provided between each of the ribs and each plate so that the ribs may be engaged around the perimeter of the plates to define the outer contours of the furnishing article. The notched interface is sized for a friction fit between the ribs and the plates and for easy manual engagement without the need for tools. In one embodiment the furnishing article is a light fixture in which the support plate defines a center opening for supporting a light socket and the secondary plate defines a center opening to receive a power cord of the socket therethrough. The support plate can define a plurality of interior openings to provide for heat convection away from a light bulb engaged within the socket.

Easily assembled and disassembled furnishing

A customer-customizable lamp includes a vertical support post mounted to a base plate. The customer selects from five different heights of decorative blocks to be mounted on the post. Each selected block may be provided in any one of five selectable colors or four selectable simulated wood grains. The selection of blocks and finishes are made on a web page with an interactive representation of the customizable lamp being displayed as the design is being created by the customer. The remaining height on the support post to be filled with decorative blocks is displayed. Once the post is filled and the customer has selected finishes for each selected block, the lamp design can be finalized for delivery to the customer. The customer selectable blocks and colors/finishes permit several million permutations so that the customer can create a highly individualized decorative lamp.

Method for creating a customer customizable lamp

A method for determining the presence and/or absence of automobile insurance on State registered vehicles utilizes registered vehicle records and insurance record databases as provided by the State and private sectors. The records contain information indicating the presence of insurance on particular vehicles. A computer controlled by a computer software program compares preselected data fields in each vehicle record with corresponding data in the insurance records. Similar data field comparison(s) is (are) made between the records of the insurance database and the vehicle database. Records lacking matching data are moved to an exceptions database for further verification and handling. Vehicle records not having a matching insurance record are checked on a weekly basis to determine if a corresponding insurance record has been entered subsequently into the insurance database. Vehicle records lacking insurance records are indicative of no vehicle insurance and are delivered to authorities for further actions. Various cross checks of other data fields between the records may be utilized to check the accuracy of the recorded data entered therein.
