A resealable access site (10) is provided for allowing a cannula (18) multiple accesses to an internal cavity (35) defined by a container (12). The access site (10) includes a first conduit (28) defining a passageway (29) forming a fluid path to the cavity within the container. Sealingly attached to the conduit (28) is a housing (26) with a lower portion (26a) and a lower flange (68) attached to a lower end of the lower portion and extending radially inward from the lower portion. A septum (24) is disposed and compressed within the lower portion, with the septum defining an opening (46) extending upward through at least a portion of the septum. The opening (46) is sized for insertion of the cannula (18) through the septum (24) with the septum sealing about the exterior of the cannula. The septum (24) is maintained in the housing by the support provided by the opposing flange (68) and conduit (28).

The present invention provides a method for fabricating flexible medical tubings comprising the steps of providing a tubing of a polymer material, the tubing having a longitudinal axis and an initial diameter, orienting the tubing along the longitudinal axis of the tubing to reduce the diameter of the tubing to define a oriented diameter, and applying heat to the oriented tubing to heat set the tubing to maintain dimensional stability of the tubing over a temperature to which the tubing will normally be exposed.

A system, a method and administration lines are provided for self-priming of a solution delivery system. The administration lines are arranged such that resultant forces acting on the lines create different forces applied on each lumen resulting in solution flowing in one of the lumen undergoing a higher isostatic pressure. The lumens forming the administration line may be formed from concentric tubings or formed from separate tubings extending varied lengths into the solution container. As a result, automatic priming of the administration line and the solution delivery system is provided.

Polymeric compositions for medical packaging and devices

The coating of a RF active material on a non-RF active substrate material of typical thickness for packaging purposes, can generate sufficient thermal energy to effect strong bonding of the substrate materials. The RF active material may be-deposited on less than the entire inner surface area of the substrate material, preferably, at or near the portion of the substrate surface which represents the heat seal interface. In this manner of application, additional coating or printing of other substances on the substrate surface can be achieved without hampering the heat sealing process.
