Systems and methods for providing a soldered interface between a circuit board and a connector pin. The methods comprise: using a jet paste dispenser to apply first solder into a plated contact cavity formed in the circuit board; using a stencil screen printer to apply second solder (a) over the plated contact cavity which was at least partially filled with the first solder by the jet paste dispenser and (b) over at least a portion of a pad surrounding the plated contact cavity; inserting the connector pin in the plated contact cavity such that the connector pin passes through the second solder and extends at least partially through the first solder; and performing a reflow process to heat the first and second solder so as to create a solder joint between the circuit board and the connector pin.

Systems and methods for providing a soldered interface on a printed circuit board having a blind feature

Systems and methods for simultaneously coupling a plurality of high speed electrical connectors to a Printed Wiring Board ('PWB'). The methods comprise: obtaining a composite electrical connector comprising the plurality of high speed electrical connectors which are serially arranged in a side-by-side manner and coupled to each other; automatedly engaging a smooth surface of the composite electrical connector; placing the composite electrical connector on the PWB so that pins of the plurality of high speed electrical connectors are concurrently inserted into vias formed in the PWB; and coupling the composite electrical connector to the PWB by soldering the pins in the vias.

The methods comprise: forming a Core Substrate ('CS') a First Via ('FV') formed therethrough; disposing a First Trace (&#x201c;FT&#x201d;) on an exposed surface of CS that is in electrical contact with FV; laminating a first HDI substrate to CS such that FT electrically connects FV via with a Second Via (&#x201c;SV&#x201d;) formed through the first HDI substrate; disposing a Second Trace (&#x201c;ST&#x201d;) on an exposed surface of the first HDI substrate that is in electrical contact with SV; and laminating a second HDI substrate to the first HDI substrate such that ST electrically connects SV to a Third Via (&#x201c;TV&#x201d;) formed through the second HDI substrate. SV comprises a buried via with a central axis spatially offset from central axis of FV and SV. FV and SV have diameters which are smaller than TV's diameter.

Systems and methods for providing a high speed interconnect system with reduced crosstalk

An optical microresonator is formed as a microcylinder and a resonant waveguide on the microcylinder and having a plurality of spaced resonant elements such as circumferential ridges for optically coupling light from an optical source waveguide onto the microcylinder. The resonant elements have a spacing, height and angle to impart a desire polarization and bring in the polarization states into degenerancy. A coating could also be formed over the resonant waveguide and operative with the resonant waveguide and of a refractive index to bring any polarization states into degenerancy.

An optical microresonator includes microcylinder and spiral resonant waveguide formed on the microcylinder that optically couples light from an optical source waveguide to the microcylinder and slows light propagating along the microcylinder. An optical microresonator and method of forming same includes a microcylinder and a circumferential coating formed on the microcylinder. This coating has a higher index of refraction than the microcylinder and is of such thickness relative to the diameter of the microcylinder that a resonant waveguide is formed such that light optically couples from an optical source waveguide onto the microcylinder.

An optical microresonator coupling system includes an optical source waveguide through which light travels. An apparatus and method forms an optical microresonator and includes spaced high precision ferrules through which an optical fiber passes. A ferrule can be rotatable and movable longitudinally in an axial direction. A clamp engages a ferrule and is operable to secure the optical fiber within a fiber guide of a ferrule such that the optical fiber can be rotated and translated longitudinally in a precision manner for writing a pattern on the optical fiber and forming a resonant waveguide.

A coupled waveguide optical microresonator is formed from a plurality of microcylinders coupled together. Each microcylinder includes a resonant waveguide. At least one of the microcylinders is adapted to be positioned adjacent an optical source waveguide for optically coupling light from an optical source waveguide onto the resonant waveguide on the microcylinder. The microcylinders are coupled together at the resonant waveguides, which are mutually coupled. Any coupled fields add coherently with each other.
