Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device having a full-color organic light emitting device (OLED) display having a plurality of pixels, with each pixel having a plurality of sub-pixels and where no individual sub-pixel of the plurality of sub-pixels emits white light. The OLED display may be configured to operate with a luminance of at least 1,000 cd/mat the D65 or higher white point, and using not more than a 0.5 mA/cmdrive current for a blue sub-pixel of the plurality of sub-pixels based on an overall active area of the full-color OLED display.

Long operational lifetime OLED display

Full-color pixel arrangements for use in devices such as OLED displays are provided, in which multiple sub-pixels are configured to emit different colors of light, with each sub-pixel having a different optical path length than some or all of the other sub-pixels within the pixel.

Organic electroluminescent devices

Emissive devices are provided that include an outcoupling layer having a plurality of nanoparticles such that the outcoupling layer has at least 3 regions possessing distinct bulk refractive index values. One or more dielectric materials are arranged at least partially between the outcoupling layer and an emissive layer of the device.

This disclosure relates to reduced power consumption OLED displays at reduced cost for reduced information content applications, such as wearable displays. Image quality for wearable displays can be different than for high information content smart phone displays and TVs, where the wearable display has an architecture that in includes, for example, an all phosphorescent device and/or material system that may be fabricated at reduced cost. The reduced power consumption can facilitate wireless and solar charging.

Low power consumption OLED display

An OLED is disclosed that includes an enhancement layer having optically active metamaterials, or hyperbolic metamaterials, which transfer radiative energy from the organic emissive material to a non-radiative mode, wherein the enhancement layer is disposed over the organic emissive layer opposite from the first electrode, and is positioned no more than a threshold distance away from the organic emissive layer, wherein the organic emissive material has a total non-radiative decay rate constant and a total radiative decay rate constant due to the presence of the enhancement layer, and the threshold distance is where the total non-radiative decay rate constant is equal to the total radiative decay rate constant; and an outcoupling layer disposed over the enhancement layer, wherein the outcoupling layer scatters radiative energy from the enhancement layer to free space.

Devices, arrangements, and techniques are provided to improve the color saturation of displays such as OLED displays while avoiding or substantially reducing any increase in power consumption that typically would be associated with such increase in saturation. A three-subpixel per pixel red/green/blue (RGB) architecture is provided as well as a four sub-pixel approach which uses two red sub-pixels for each pixel (red/red/green/blue, or R1R2GB).

A dual host system for OLEDs that contains hole-transporting indolocarbazole and electron-transporting indolocarbazole exhibiting superior performance in the OLEDs is disclosed.

Organic electroluminescent materials and devices

A compound is disclosed that has a metal coordination complex structure having at least two ligands coordinated to the metal; wherein the compound has a first substituent Rat one of the ligands' periphery; wherein a first distance is defined as the distance between the metal and one of the atoms in Rwhere that atom is the farthest away from the metal among the atoms in R; wherein the first distance is also longer than any other atom-to-metal distance between the metal and any other atoms in the compound; and wherein when a sphere having a radius r is defined whose center is at the metal and the radius r is the smallest radius that will allow the sphere to enclose all atoms in the compound that are not part of R, the first distance is longer than the radius r by at least 2.9 Å.

A compound having an ancillary ligand Lhaving the formula: Formula I is disclosed. The ligand Lis coordinated to a metal M having an atomic number greater than 40, and two adjacent substituents are optionally joined to form into a ring. Such compound is suitable for use as emitters in organic light emitting devices.

Provided is an OLED structure includes an organic layer having a primary phosphorescent emitter and a first host; where one of the following conditions is true: (1) the organic layer further includes a secondary emitter; or (2) the OLED further includes a second organic layer where the second organic layer includes a secondary emitter. The primary phosphorescent emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥600 nm and ≤750 nm; the secondary emitter has a peak emission wavelength λmax that is ≥750 nm; the primary phosphorescent emitter is capable of transferring energy to the secondary emitter; the first host has a lowest excited state triplet energy T1 that is at least 0.1 eV higher than that of the primary phosphorescent emitter; the primary phosphorescent emitter has the formula Pt(L); Lcan represent one or more ligands that are the same or different; each Lis independently monodentate or multidentate; and m represents a maximum possible number of ligands Lthat can coordinate to Pt.

Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device that includes a full color display. A camera may be disposed below the full color display. A controller may modify a video signal applied to one or more sub-pixels of the full color display based on a predicted degradation of the one or more sub-pixels, such that the modification is updated by the controller based on luminance data for the one or more subpixels acquired by the camera.

Display correction scheme using an under-display camera

Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a full-color pixel arrangement for a device, the full-color pixel arrangement including a plurality of sub-pixels, each having an emissive region of a first color, where the full-color pixel arrangement comprises emissive regions having exactly one emissive color that is a red-shifted color of a deep blue sub-pixel of the plurality of sub-pixels. Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter may also provide a full-color pixel arrangement for a device, the full-color pixel arrangement including a plurality of sub-pixels, each having an emissive region of a first color, where the full-color pixel arrangement comprises emissive regions having exactly one emissive color, and where the plurality of sub-pixels comprise a light blue sub-pixel, a deep blue sub-pixel, a red sub-pixel, and a green sub-pixel.

Embodiments of the disclosed subject matter provide a device that includes an organic light emitting device (OLED), and a drive circuit to control the operation of the OLED, comprising a response time accelerator thin film transistor (TFT) configured to short or reverse bias the OLED for a predetermined period of time during a frame time. Other embodiments include an OLED having a plurality of sub-pixels, where one or more of sub-pixels configured to emit light of at least a first color comprises a first emissive area and a second emissive area that are independently controllable, where the first emissive area is larger than the second emissive area. The controller is configured to control the second emissive area to have (i) a higher brightness, and/or (ii) a higher current density than the first emissive area for a first sub-pixel luminance level that is less than a maximum luminance.
