Devices in a building may be identified using a combination of power monitoring and network monitoring. Power monitoring may be performed by obtaining a power monitoring signal and processing the power monitoring signal with models to determine information about one or more devices in the building. Network monitoring may be performed by receiving network packets transmitted by devices in the building and processing the data of the network packets to determine information about one or more devices in the building. For some devices and some implementations, information about a device may be determined by using both power monitoring and network monitoring.

Devices state changes in a building may be determined using a combination of power monitoring and network monitoring. Power monitoring may be performed by obtaining a power monitoring signal and processing the power monitoring signal with models to determine information about state changes of one or more devices in the building. Network monitoring may be performed by receiving information about network packets transmitted by devices in the building and processing the information about the network packets to determine information about state changes of one or more devices in the building. For some devices and some implementations, information about state changes of a device may be determined by using both power monitoring and network monitoring.

Methods and apparatus for communicating between virtual agents associated with users of electronic devices connected via at least one network. A first user may instruct an associated first virtual agent to invoke a communication session with a second virtual agent associated with a second user. To invoke the communication session, the first virtual agent may send an outgoing communication to the second virtual agent and the outgoing communication may instruct the second virtual agent to perform at least one action on behalf of the first user. Virtual agents associated with different users may alternatively communicate with each other in the absence of user interaction to perform a collaborative action.

A system for determining states of devices in a building includes an electrical main, an electrical panel that distributes power to the devices, a power meter that measures power consumed by the devices from the electrical main, and a first sensor configured to measure an electrical property of the electrical main. The system further includes a computer configured to determine a state of a first device in the building by processing a first power event in a power monitoring signal, obtained from the first sensor, to generate a score for each of a plurality of power models, and to select the state of the first device using the scores. The computer is further configured to receive a first network packet transmitted by a second device in the building; determine that the first network packet was sent by the second device; and select the state of the second device.

A power monitor may have more than one mode of operation to provide improved functionality for end users. For example, a first mode of operation may provide higher accuracy in determining information about devices but may also have higher latency in making determinations (e.g., identifying state changes of devices), and a second mode of operation may have lower accuracy but also lower latency to provide information more quickly to end users. The mode of operation of the power monitor may change depending on whether an end user is currently viewing information about devices. When a user is not viewing information about devices, the power monitor may operate in a first mode of operation (e.g., to improve accuracy), and when a user is viewing information about devices, the power monitor may operate in a second mode of operation (e.g., to provide updates more quickly).

Power monitoring may be performed by obtaining a power monitoring signal and processing the power monitoring signal with models to determine information about state changes of one or more devices in the building. Network monitoring may be performed by receiving information about network packets transmitted by a device in the building and processing the information about the network packets to determine information about a different device or a state change of a different device in the building. For some devices and some implementations, information about state changes of a device may be determined by using both power monitoring and network monitoring.

Electrical usage of devices in a building may be monitored to provide information about the operation of the devices to a user. The information communicated to a user may include historical information that is retrieved from a server and real-time information that is received from a power monitoring device. The historical information may be transmitted to the user device over a first network connection where the historical information is retrieved using an identifier received from the user device. The real-time information may be received from a power monitoring device and transmitted to the user device over a second network connection.

Communication of historical and real-time information about devices in a building

A power monitor in a building processes a power monitoring signal obtained from the power line to the building to identify electrical events corresponding to state changes of devices in the building. The electrical event may be processed with a classifier to determine if the electrical event corresponds to a state change of an identified device from a list of identified devices or corresponds to a state change of an ambiguous device that is not from the list of identified devices. The power monitor may also determine power consumption information about individual identified devices and about groups of devices, such as a group of always on devices, a group of ambiguous devices, and categories of the group of ambiguous devices. Information about state changes of devices and power consumption of individual devices and groups of devices may be transmitted to a user device for presentation to a user.

Speech recorded by an audio capture facility of a music facility is processed by a speech recognition facility to generate results that are provided to the music facility. When information related to a music application running on the music facility are provided to the speech recognition facility, the results generated are based at least in part on the application related information. The speech recognition facility uses an unstructured language model for generating results. The user of the music facility may optionally be allowed to edit the results being provided to the music facility. The speech recognition facility may also adapt speech recognition based on usage of the results.
