According to some embodiments, a device comprises a body and one or more breathable barriers. The body includes a plurality of openings and forms one or more air spaces therein, wherein the plurality of openings and the one or more air spaces allow air to flow through the body in at least two directions, and wherein the at least two directions are orthogonal to each other. The one or more breathable barriers are positioned over at least some of the plurality of openings, wherein the one or more breathable barriers allow air to flow through the at least some of the plurality of openings into the one or more air spaces.

Airflow devices for magnetic resonance imaging

The present invention changes the magnet-mode of an active implantable medical device (AIMD) using a static strip magnet comprising at least a first, second and third magnet. The electronic circuits of the AIMD have been programmed to register when the static strip magnet has been swiped across the AIMD so that when the magnetic field-detection sensor detects a defined north and south polarity sequence of the first, second and third magnets, the electronic circuits have been programmed to enter into magnet-mode with electrical stimulation therapy of the body tissue and/or electrical sensing of biological signals from the body tissue being suspended, maintained in a preset mode, or placed in a programmed mode.

Clinical static strip magnet of alternating polarities to prevent inadvertent actuation of magnet-mode in an active implantable medical device

The present invention changes the magnet-mode of an active implantable medical device (AIMD) such that repeated application of a clinical magnet in a predetermined and deliberate time sequence will induce the AIMD to enter into its designed magnet-mode. In one embodiment, a clinical magnet is applied close to and over the AIMD and removed a specified number of times within a specified timing sequence. In another embodiment, the clinical magnet is applied close to and over the AIMD and flipped a specified number of times within a specified timing sequence. This makes it highly unlikely that the magnet in a portable electronic device, children's toy, and the like can inadvertently and dangerously induce AIMD magnet-mode.

Devices and methods are provided for shutting down a magnet system. The device includes a portable housing, a communication unit, and a switch on the portable housing. The portable housing encloses a field shutdown initiation circuitry. The communication unit is disposed at least partially in the portable housing and the communication unit is configured to establish communication between the field shutdown initiation circuitry and the magnet system. The switch is configured to turn on the field shutdown initiation circuitry to initiate a magnet field shutdown in the magnet system.

Portable device for emergency magnetic field shutdown

A magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system magnet includes at least one main electromagnet winding disposed within a first radius of the magnet and at least one bucking electromagnet winding disposed within a second radius, larger than the first radius of the magnet and configured to provide self-shielding magnetic fields that substantially reduce fringe magnetic fields outside the magnet produced by the main electromagnet winding. The combination of magnetic fields produced by both the main and bucking electromagnet windings inside the magnet conform to MRI requirements within at least an imaging volume. The main and bucking electro-magnet windings are configured so as to create a net fringe field outside the magnet within the range of 50-100 gauss at a distance within a range of 3-5 meters axially and 2-3 meters radially from a center of the magnet.
