A system and method are provided for creating both angiographic images of a subject and dynamic images of the subject from imaging data acquired during an imaging acquisition. The method includes operating an imaging system to perform an imaging acquisition by delivering interspersed doses of high doses of the ionizing radiation and low doses of the ionizing radiation, wherein more low doses of the ionizing radiation are delivered than high doses of ionizing radiation during the imaging acquisition to thereby acquire the imaging data with a high frame rate of low dose data and a low frame rate of high dose data. The method also includes generating at least volumetric angiographic images of the subject and dynamic images of the subject from the imaging data.

System and method for simultaneous acquisition of contrast dynamics and anatomical images

Aspects of the disclosure are directed to methods and/or apparatuses involving modifying flow and/or concentration of an agent being injected for characterizing a vascular system. As may be implemented in accordance with one or more embodiments, a liquid including an agent is injected into a vascular system, by dynamically modulating a flow rate of the agent being injected over a range of flow rates. The vascular system is characterized based on a response of the vascular system to the dynamic modulation. In some implementations, such an approach involves using an injector that operates to separately control the rate at which an agent and other liquid such as saline are injected. These approaches can be implemented with modulation schemes using one or more of a variety of functions.

Dynamic agent injection for cardiovascular characterization

A system and method are provided for creating an image including quantified flow within vessels of a subject. The method includes providing a single-sweep, three-dimensional (3D) image volume acquired from a subject during a single pass of a computed tomography (CT) imaging system as the subject receives a dose of a contrast agent and determining a phase shift corresponding to pulsatile contrast in vessels within the single-sweep, 3D image volume. The method further includes quantifying a flow through the vessels within the single-sweep, 3D image volume using the phase shift and generating a report including indicating flow through the vessels within the 3D image volume.

System and method for flow-resolved, three-dimensional imaging

A multi-modality phantom is provided. The multi-modality phantom includes a container and an insert. The container defines an exterior that is separated from an interior space and designed to receive a tissue-mimicking medium for an ultrasound imaging process. The container further includes at least one access port formed in the container to perform the ultrasound imaging process of the interior space. The insert can be dimensioned to be selectively arranged within the interior space of the container. The insert includes imaging features arranged to simulate an environment and constructed to yield simultaneous imaging results when performing the ultrasound imaging process and at least one non-ultrasound imaging process.

Systems and methods for a multi-modality phantom having an interchangeable insert

A system and method is provided for imaging a contrast agent. The system includes a power injector that delivers a contrast agent as a series of boluses using a known period, flow rate, or duration and with a rate of at least one or more separate boluses per cardiac cycle. An x-ray imaging system acquires a reference dataset of the subject before the contrast agent is delivered and acquires an imaging dataset as the series of boluses are delivered to the subject, wherein multiple images are acquired of the subject per bolus. A computer system receives the reference dataset and the imaging dataset from the x-ray imaging system and reconstructs the reference dataset and the imaging dataset using a reconstruction process that removes the subject from the images to generate time-resolved volumetric images of the contrast agent moving within a volume of the subject without the subject.

System and method for flow-resolved three-dimensional imaging

A system and method are provided for medical imaging that includes acquiring, during a common imaging acquisition process, rotational, x-ray volume image data and x-ray tomosynthesis image data from a subject. The method includes reconstructing a time-resolved three-dimensional (3D) image volume from the rotational, x-ray volume image data and producing a four-dimensional (4D) image series of the subject with resolved overlapping features by selectively combining the time-resolved 3D image volume and the x-ray tomosynthesis imaging data.

System and method for resolving artifacts in four-dimensional angiographic data

A system and method are provided for generating images that track a position and shape of a medical device within a subject. The method includes acquiring image data from a subject along at least two disparate view angles, each view angle including a deformable medical device arranged in the subject. The method also includes receiving images reconstructed from the image data and exploring a search space to compare the images with a dynamic three-dimensional (3D) model at least using a deformation parameter to determine a position and shape of the deformable medical device within the subject. The method further includes displaying an image of the subject and deformable medical device arranged within the subject based on the position and shape of the deformable medical device within the subject.
