A clip provides a method for securing suspended ceiling tees to each other at an angle, especially but not necessarily at an angle other than a right angle. The clip has a body portion, an integral first tab portion projecting from one end of the body portion, an integral second tab portion projecting from the other end of the body portion, and preferably two integral tongue portions projecting from the body portion along either side of the second tab portion. The connection is effected by cutting the end of the first tee to the desired angle, if it is not already at that angle, then punching a vertical slot in the web portion of the first tee at a specified distance from the cut end of the first tee, then inserting the first tab in that slot and folding it and the clip against the web portion, then folding the tongue portions around the end of the tee to secure the clip to the tee, then inserting and securing the second tab portion in a vertical slot punched in the web portion of the second tee at the desired connection location. The clip preferably has a hole therethrough in the area of the first tab portion, and a slot through the second tab portion, thereby weakening those areas to facilitate bending.

Angled connection of suspended ceiling tees

A linear panel ceiling system is disclosed in which generally U-shaped elongated panels can be mounted in abutting relationship or in a spaced relationship. When the panels are installed in a spaced relationship, an insert is snapped into a groove extending lengthwise the adjacent panels to close the space between adjacent panels. The insert is supported throughout its length and does not tend to lift when pressure differential exists across the insert. The side legs of the panels are inclined inwardly a small amount so that when the panels are installed in an abutting relationship with the panel faces abutting, the legs diverge to allow installation and/or removal of panels from the mounting brackets.

Linear panel ceilings and the like

A grid system for suspension ceilings is disclosed having an end connector providing an inverted, U-shaped end portion adapted to nest over the upper edge of an associated web of a runner extending through the intersection. An integral tongue is bendable through an aperture formed in such associated web to releasably lock the connector to the through runner. The end connector is mounted between opposed, parallel, vertical webs on the associated runner by tabs which extend through web slots. The separate connectors and the runners can be formed of materials having different thicknesses so that the material forming the web and the material forming the connector can be selected to provide the required strength without excessive use of materials. The connectors can be used both in main run cross-run systems, and in basket weave systems.
