Disclosed is a formable thermoplastic multi-layer laminate comprising an outer layer comprising a polymer comprising resorcinol arylate polyester chain members, a middle layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer, an inner-tie layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer comprising a carbonate polymer and an acrylonitrile-styrene graft copolymer comprising at least one of an acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate graft copolymer (ASA) or an acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene graft copolymer (ABS), the middle layer being between the outer layer and the inner-tie layer and being in contact with both the outer layer and the inner-tie layer. Also disclosed are a formed multi-layer laminate and an article comprising the multi-layer laminate bonded to a substrate. A method of making the article is also disclosed.

A system and method for measuring viscosity, melt flow index (MFI), and melt volume rate (MVR) of a polymer melt in real-time during an extrusion process to provide quick and accurate feedback for process control. The system includes a polymer processing rate sensor ( ), a polymer melt temperature sensor ( ), an extruder pressure sensor ( ), and a die head temperature sensor ( ) for taking in-line measurements during the extrusion process. The in-line measurements are made on the main process stream of the polymer melt, with the determination of viscosity, MFI, and MVR based on these measured values and those obtained during a calibration run with polymers having known properties. The invention can be used in any polymer compounding and extrusion process utilizing die opening with any constant geometry for monitoring quality and providing feedback for process control.

An exemplary embodiment is a method and system for electronic recycle inventory tracking corresponding to a product on a production line. The system includes a processor integrated with the production line for identifying the product, determining whether the product is rejected, assigning a first destination to the product if the product is not rejected and generating tracking data based on the first destination, determining whether the product is to be recycled based on determining whether the product is rejected and assigning a second destination to the product based on said determining whether the product is to be recycled and generating tracking data based on the second destination. A network is connected to the processor, and a user system is coupled to the network. A database is coupled to the processor for storing data relating to the product.
