A system to perform automated conversion of video data includes a transcoder with a decoder processing video data for automatic video format detection and conversion of video data into uncompressed format; and an image scaler coupled to the setting controller to perform automatic video image size conversion based on horizontal and/or vertical scaling factors. The system also includes a video data pre-processor for compression of video data; a compression encoder to convert video data into compressed format; and a degradations and distortions meter (video quality analyzer) to process video data and data generated by said transcoder.

Method, system and apparatus for enhanced video transcoding

Methods, systems and software are disclosed for automated Measurement of Video Quality parameters. The system includes a static Test Pattern provided either in form of a Test Pattern File, converted via a standard playout device (test source) into analog or digital test signal and supplied to the input of a System Under Test, or in form of a Reflectance Chart installed before the front-end device of the System Under Test, such as TV camera. The system also includes a video capture device connected to the back-end device of the System Under Test, e.g. to the output of system decoder/player. A Video Quality Analyzer processes the captured video data and generates a detailed Analysis Report.

Systems and methods are disclosed to perform automated audio visual (AV) delay measurement for a system under test (SUT) by generating a dynamic AV test pattern to drive a source display device and one or more destination video display devices; detecting video output through at least one light sensor coupled to the one or more destination video display devices; digitizing the light sensor output; and performing multi-channel delay parameters analysis.

Systems and methods for metering audio and video delays

A system to perform automated audio visual (AV) delay measurement for a system under test (SUT) includes a test pattern generator to generate a dynamic AV test pattern and connected to a source display device and to one or more destination video display devices; at least one light sensor coupled to the one or more destination video display devices; an AV capture device having video inputs connected to the light sensors; and an AV delay analyzer coupled to the AV capture device to perform multi-channel delay parameters analysis.

Automated measurement of video quality parameters

A CCD video camera is coupled to a host system. The CCD video camera captures image data representing elements in its field of view. The video camera does not include a digital signal processing circuit for processing the raw video data into the appropriate video format. The raw video data is processed and converted into the appropriate video format for display by the host computer system after it is received from the video camera. Necessary gain adjustments and control signals are calculated within the host computer and provided to the video camera or used during the digital signal processing of the video data to adjust the parameters of the data before the video images are displayed. A histogram is generated in order to continually monitor and adjust the exposure and gain of the system and thereby appropriately change the necessary control signals for optimal performance. Through a graphical user interface a user can view the video images, set a proper white balance for the images by selecting a white area within the picture and view the histogram. A higher resolution scan mode is also used when capturing still images.

Charge-coupled device video camera with raw data format output and software implemented camera signal processing

A disk-assisted system for editing video tapes. Source material from video tapes is logged onto random access storage such as a hard disk drive using of a Macintosh-based computer system. At any one time, only a small portion of the tape material is stored as video frames on the computer disk. By software control, material is cached back and forth between the computer disk and the video tape. Thus editing is accomplished and an edit decision list constructed for compilation of the final video production. This provides the advantage of fast access time for editing of the material which is on the disk while allowing actual physical editing at the end of the project of the actual video tape material. The processes of logging the material onto the disk and editing the final tape are performed automatically.

Disk-assisted editing for recorded video material

A harness release device for towing a water skier by a harness worn by the skier. The device having a frame and a cylindrical handle with two ends both of which being rotatably attached to and supported by the frame. The handle is freely rotatable about its longitudinal axis. A harness line, having a first end and a second end, is fixedly attached to said frame at the first end. The second end of the harness line is releasably connected to the handle. The releasable connection is formed by winding the second end of the harness line around the handle by rotating the handle in a first direction. The harness engages the harness line whereby if the skier lets go of the handle, the handle spins thus releasing the harness line from the handle and the harness.

A computer-based video editing system provides software controlled wipes between scenes. These wipes may be the conventional horizontal, vertical, or clock type wipes used in video to transition from one scene to the next. Instead of being generated by conventional digital wave form generators, the wipes are generated as a bit map in computer memory, thus allowing the editor to design his own wipes as desired. The wipes are generated by comparators which have as their inputs line-by-line video data and computer controlled threshold data so as to control a video switcher to select between scenes as determined by the wipe pattern.
