This invention relates to an engine cooling system in which the supply of fuel is cooled to prevent fuel vapors by cooling the fuel pump. The cooling system uses a thermoelectric material that, either entirely or partially, surrounds the fuel pump, is the housing of the fuel pump and/or is internal to the fuel pump.

Thermoelectric cooled pump

A fuel pump assembly and method of making the same is disclosed. The fuel pump assembly includes a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor and a circuit board formed as a discrete component from the BLDC motor. The BLDC motor includes a stator with a plurality of windings. A screw, or some other fastener, extends through the circuit board and threadedly engages a portion of the BLDC motor. The screws serve the dual functions of attaching the circuit board to the BLDC motor and electrically connecting the BLDC motor to the circuit board to power the BLDC motor.

This invention relates generally to a vapor vent system for an internal combustion engine such as an outboard marine fuel injected engine. The vapor vent system includes a snap assembly decoupled float vapor vent in order to vent vapors from the vapor separator. The snap assembly design reduces costs, vibration and assembly requirements.

A fuel rail vent system for evacuating air from a fuel rail includes a first fuel reservoir and a first fuel line extending between the first fuel reservoir and the fuel rail. A fuel pump is configured in fluid communication with the first fuel reservoir to pump liquid fuel from the first fuel reservoir to the fuel rail through the first fuel line. A second fuel line separate from the first fuel line extends between the first fuel reservoir and the fuel rail. A primer system is configured for fluid communication with the first fuel reservoir to pump liquid fuel from the first fuel reservoir to the fuel rail through the second fuel line. A second fuel reservoir separate from the first fuel reservoir is configured for fluid communication with the fuel rail downstream of the fuel rail to receive any excess liquid fuel and/or fuel vapor upstream therefrom.

Fuel rail vent system

A system and method for manufacturing a brushless direct current (BLDC) motor fluid pump is disclosed. The system includes an electromagnetic forming device, an upper fixture, a lower fixture, and a pneumatic or hydraulic cylinder. The electromagnetic forming device has a central cavity. The central cavity has a predefined depth from an outer surface of the electromagnetic forming device. The upper fixture is disposed in the central cavity. The upper fixture has a pump stop surface that contacts the BLDC motor fuel pump, and the pump stop surface is selectively spaced from the outer surface of the electromagnetic forming device. A lower fixture having a central cavity for receiving the housing of the BLDC motor fluid pump is provided. A cylinder is configured to move the lower fixture towards the upper fixture until the pump stop surface of the upper fixture contacts the BLDC motor fluid pump. The electromagnetic forming device is activated to seal the housing of the pump assembly once the pump assembly is properly positioned within the magneforming device.

System and method for manufacturing a brushless DC motor fluid pump

A fuel separator is disclosed having a hollow interior in which a tubular coiled heat exchanger is positioned to receive a coolant liquid therethrough. Fuel is fed into the chamber through a fuel inlet and pumped out of the chamber by a high pressure pump into the fuel distribution system of an internal combustion engine. Heated excess fuel from the fuel distribution system of an internal combustion engine is returned to the chamber through a fuel return inlet at the bottom of the chamber and the heated fuel passes upwardly through the coolant coil thereby cooling the heated return fuel. Fuel vapor that is not condensed as a result of cooling can escape from the chamber through a float needle valve at the top of the chamber. A pressure relief valve is also provided at the top of the chamber to allow the vapor to escape when a predetermined internal pressure is reached.
