Methods of repair of a component or adding material to a component using laser welding are disclosed. One method may include repairing or adding material to the component by laser irradiating a wire material with a laser in an inert gas in a vicinity of the component. The laser irradiating the wire material includes modulated pulsing the laser through: a warm up phase during which an on-power of the laser is increased over time to a maximum target on-power, a melt and bond phase during which the wire material is melted and during which the on-power is less than the maximum target on-power, and a stress releasing phase during which the on-power of the laser is less than the on-power during the melt and bond phase. The laser irradiated wire material forms a weld material to repair a damaged area or add material to the component.

Laser welding of component

A method is disclosed for repairing a precision casted turbine blade having a squealer and at least one letterbox which was closed by brazing during new-part manufacturing, wherein the letterbox area was damaged during operation in the first life cycle of the blade.

Method for repairing turbine components

A method is provided for reconditioning a turbine blade. The turbine blade includes a blade airfoil which extends longitudinally and into the hollow inner space of which inserts can be inserted in the longitudinal direction of the blade for distribution and guiding cooling air which flows in the inner space. The inserts with a rib engage with sealing effect in a U-shaped sealing groove which is machined out on the inner wall of the blade airfoil and extend in the longitudinal direction of the blade. A damaged sealing groove is reconditioned by the sealing groove being removed from the inner wall of the blade airfoil, forming a slot, by an insertion strip, which is provided for sealing, being inserted into the slot, and by the insertion strip, which is seated in the slot, being connected in a materially bonding manner to the inner wall of the blade airfoil.

Method for reconditioning a turbine blade

A method is provided for repairing a single crystal turbine blade, which includes an airfoil with a tip having a tip cover plate, tip cooling air holes and a tip crown. The method includes removing the tip crown by manual grinding, thereby preserving the underlying tip cover plate; preparing the tip cooling air holes by manual grinding; closing said prepared tip cooling air holes by manual welding; and building-up a new tip crown by a LMF (Laser Metal Forming) process.

Method for repairing a single crystal turbine blade

A locking and fixing device for a heat shield element, which heat shield element can be arranged along a heat shield row axially directly next to at least one blade provided in a blade row and has, axially facing the blade, at least two projections of rib-like design which are spaced apart in the circular circumferential direction, are raised above a side wall section facing the blade and define a clear intermediate space which extends in the circular circumferential direction and into which a locking lug provided on the blade can be fitted. Further disclosed is at least one rib-like projection, on its side facing away from the clear intermediate space, providing an extension which extends in the circular circumferential direction, is connected to the projection and the side wall section and rises above the side wall section at most up to the rib height of the projection.
