A method is provided for supplying alternating current (AC) electricity. The method includes receiving direct current (DC) electricity from a source of electric power at a motorized pump, and converting the DC electricity from the source of electric power to AC electricity. This includes converting the DC electricity to first motive power at the motorized pump to move water from a source location to at least one supply location. The water is supplied from the at least one supply location to a turbine, and kinetic energy of the water is converted to second motive power at the turbine. The second motive power is converted to the AC electricity at an electric generator that is connected to the turbine, and the AC electricity is supplied from the electric generator.

When dehumidification without sensible cooling is required, different air handling units feeding into a common distribution system may be operated in different modes so that both cooling and reheating are occurring simultaneously. The result is an energy efficient means of controlling both ambient air temperature and relative humidity. Air handling units such as water source heat pumps and variable refrigerant flow (VRF) units may be employed.

Distributed energy resources of a slow responding variety and a fast responding variety can be paired together and dispatched together, so that the paired fast responding and slow responding distributed energy resources mimic a large fast responding distributed energy resource. The benefits of a high capacity fast responding distributed energy resource is thus provided, such as for the load shedding and grid support benefits thereof.

Embodiments of systems and methods for power demand management are described herein. In some embodiments the system uses demand response bidding to reduce or increase the load of a power system. Day ahead or real-time bids may be performed. In other embodiments, a virtual power plant is disclosed that dynamically aggregates multiple power assets to provide demand response services, frequency response services, and fast ramp services to the grid.

A modular heat recovery ventilation system includes a modular heat exchanger and a modular apparatus spaced from the heat exchanger for delivering both fresh air and exhaust air to the heat exchanger.
