A non-ferromagnetic electronic circulator device and system is described. Such passive electronic circulator devices may include a plurality of ports that include a discrete arrangement of resistors, capacitors and inductors that form a fully connected S parameter matrix. Signals that enter a first port of the circulator only exit from the second port, signals entering the second port only exit from the third port, signals entering the third port only exit the fourth port, and signals entering the fourth port, only exit the first port.

Embodiments of the invention provide for methods and apparatus for fragmenting a single message and sending the message fragments over multiple independent networks to a single receiving unit. The receiving unit then reassembles the message fragments to generate the original message. One embodiment of an apparatus according to the invention is a wireless radio frequency modem that can both receive and transmit fragmented messages over multiple independent networks.

Method and apparatus for distributed data transfer over multiple independent wireless networks

The present invention provides for a wireless radio frequency ('RF') modem that plugs into a host computer and shares a central processing unit and memory with the host computer, wherein principal modem functions are distributed between the modem and the host computer. In one embodiment, the modem performs RF conversion, and the host computer performs baseband processing and protocol stack control. In another embodiment, the modem performs RF conversion and baseband processing, and the host computer performs protocol stack control.

A radio-frequency (RF) transmitter power amplifier circuit provides for practically linear performance by predistorting the amplifier input signals to compensate for amplifier distortion at high power levels, and provides a fine degree of control of amplifier power needed to handle complex modulation schemes with widely and rapidly varying power requirements. A predistortion database () contains gain and phase corrections for various transmission types and a separate automatic gain control database () contains fine amplifier gain corrections. A real-time processor () combines the two types of corrections and applies them to the amplifier input signals, and a background processor () continually updates both databases in accordance with a programmable priority scheme. Integration of predistortion and amplifier power control is achieved in a manner that minimizes adverse effects of one type of control on the other. One feature of the invention provides for rapid convergence of the predistortion correction.

Efficient method and means for integration of power control and predistortion in a transmitter

The present invention includes a method and system for controlling an equalizer equalizing data transmitted a communications channel which is oversampled at an oversampling rate of M. The method of the present invention includes the steps of initializing a plurality of data pointers and a first buffer stored in an input memory (22); generating a buffer full flag in response to filling the first buffer with a pre-determined number of data samples; initializing a counter (28) in response to the buffer full flag, the counter (28) generating an enable signal every M cycles; equalizing a portion of the pre-determined number of data samples in response to the enabling signal using an equalizer (20), where the portion of the pre-determined number of data samples is located using the plurality of data pointers; and adjusting the plurality of data pointers in response to the equalizing step using an FSE controller (24).
