The present invention relates to glasses having a composition made up of base glasses. The glasses have a good chemical toughenability in combination with an advantageous coefficient of thermal expansion. Owing to their composition and the production process, the homogeneity of the properties of the glasses at their surface is high compared to the bulk glass. Furthermore, the fragility of the glasses is low, so that they can be processed to produce very thin glass articles.

Glasses having improved ion exchangeability and thermal expansion

A glass flux material for applying an opaque coating is provided. The glass flux material includes at least one pigment and a glass component with the following composition:

A thermally tempered glass element is provided made of glass with two opposite faces that are under compressive stress of at least 40 MPa. The glass has a working point at which the glass has a viscosity of 10dPa·s of at most 1350° C. The glass has a viscosity versus temperature profile and a coefficient of thermal expansion versus temperature profile of the glass are such that a variable (750° C.-T)/(CTE-CTEs) has a value of at most 5*10K. The CTEis a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the glass above a glass transition temperature T, the CTEis a coefficient of linear thermal expansion of the glass in a temperature range from 20° C. to 300° C., and the Tis a temperature at which the glass has a viscosity of 10dPa·s.

Thermally tempered glass element and use thereof

Glass elements are provided that include a coating and a sheet-like glass substrate. The sheet-like glass substrate has a first surface and a second surface opposite the first surface. The coating is disposed in at least some areas of at least one of the first and second surfaces. The coating is an inorganic glass-based coating that includes at least one glassy component; at least one pigment comprising pigment particles; and a filler. The filler is inorganic and includes filler particles with a dvalue, based on an equivalent diameter, of at least 0.1 &#x3bc;m and less than 10 &#x3bc;m.

Glass element comprising enamel coating and use thereof, coating agent for making same, and method for producing the coating agent

A coated glass or glass ceramic substrate includes a substrate with a surface area and a coating on that surface area. The coating includes a glass matrix and IR-reflecting pigments. The IR-reflecting pigments have a TSR value of at least 20%, as determined according to ASTM G 173. The coating, at a wavelength of 1500 nm, exhibits a remission of at least 35%, as measured according to ISO 13468.

Decorative coating having increased IR reflection

Coated glass or glass ceramic substrates having high temperature resistance, high strength, and a low coefficient of thermal expansion. The coating includes pores, is fluid-tight and suitable for coating a temperature-resistant, high-strength glass or glass ceramic substrate with a low coefficient of thermal expansion, and to a method for producing such a coated substrate.

A panel like, double-sided coated substrate and a method for production are provided. The panel like substrate includes at least two layers applied by heating, the first layer being applied on a first side of the substrate and having at least a glass component and structure-forming particles, the particles producing elevations on the first layer, and the softening temperature or the melting temperature of the particles being greater than the softening temperature of the glass component, and the second layer being applied on a second side of the substrate.

A glass having a good hydrolytic resistance and alkali resistance is defined by a targeted combination of stoichiometric glasses, including glasses also existing as crystals in the same stoichiometry and whose properties can be assumed as being very similar due to the identical topology of the structural units for glass and crystal, respectively. A process of producing the glasses is also provided.

Glasses having improved hydrolytic and alkali resistance

A glass is disclosed that is particularly suitable as pharmaceutical packing medium and as a chemically pre-stressable glass comprising at least the following components (in mol-% on oxide basis): 64-77 SiO, 5-14 AlO, 4-12 NaO, 1-12 CaO, 0-14 MgO, 0 -2 ZrO, 0-4.5 TiO, wherein the ratio AlO/NaO&#x2265;1, wherein the ratio AlO/CaO&#x2265;1.5, and wherein the total content SiO+AlO&#x3c;82 mol-%. Preferably, a working temperature T4 of less than 1350&#xb0; C. and a hydrolytic resistance according to DIN ISO 719 HGB1 and according to ISO 720 HGA are obtained.

Chemically resistant glass

A pharmaceutical packaging is provided including a glass, comprising at least the following components (given in mol % on oxide basis): SiO: 5 9-84, AlO: 7-18.5, CaO: 1-25, SrO: 0-6.5, BaO: 0-5, ZrO: 0-3, TiO: 0-5, BO: 0-1, wherein the ratio (CaO+SrO+BaO)/AlO&#x3c;2.8, wherein the ratio (CaO+SrO+BaO)/SiO&#x2264;0.39, wherein the hydrolytic resistance according to DIN ISO 720 is class HGA 1, and wherein the glass, apart from unavoidable contaminations, is free of alkali oxides and magnesium oxides.
