A gear mechanism includes a rotating input element, a rotating output element, and at least one first force transmission device arranged along a spiral line on a face of the input element. A second force transmission device is arranged along an encircling line on a face of the output element. The interaction of these force transmission devices transmits a turning moment from the input element to the output element, whereby this turning moment effects a rotating motion in the output element so that the rotational speed is lower than the rotational speed of the input element. A rotary encoder may be equipped with a gear mechanism of the aforementioned type.

A scale that includes a first base body having a first non-magnetizable support and a first set of magnetic elements that are arranged laterally next to the first non-magnetizable support, are magnetized in a single identical direction and are arranged in a measuring direction. A second base body having a second non-magnetizable support and a second set of magnetic elements that are arranged laterally next to the second non-magnetizable support, are magnetized in the single identical direction and area arranged in the measuring direction. The first base body and the second base body are put together such that in the measuring direction alternating ones of the first and second sets of magnetic elements are arranged and the first and second sets of magnetic elements have different magnetic orientations with respect to each other.

Scale and method for producing this scale and position measuring system employing such a scale

A Ferraris sensor for measuring an acceleration of a moving body along a direction. The sensor includes a flat eddy current body and a scanning head arranged on one side of the eddy current body. The scanning head includes N magnets that generate an external magnetic field that extends approximately perpendicular to a surface of the eddy current body, wherein N=1, 2, 3, . . . and M detector coils, wherein M=1, 2, 3, 4, . . . and each detector coil includes an axis and detects changes of an interior magnetic field within the N magnets that are caused by an acceleration of the eddy current body and a resulting change in eddy currents. The axis is approximately perpendicular with respect to the surface of the eddy current body, each detector coil lacks a ferromagnetic core and the N magnets and the M detector coils are arranged alternatingly next to each other in a direction that the acceleration is to be measured.

Ferraris sensor

A measuring graduation for position measuring systems has a base body formed of a permanently magnetizable material, extending in a measuring direction and having first and second sections alternatingly arranged one after another in the measuring direction and having, respectively, first and second magnetization directions, with the second sections being formed by magnetically weak regions, and with the second magnetization direction of the second sections being defined by the first magnetization direction of adjacent first sections; and the method of magnetization of the base body includes magnetizing the base body in a homogenous outer magnetic field.

Measuring graduation for a position measuring system

A position measuring device that includes a scanning device and a measurement representation that is scanned by the scanning device. The measurement representation includes a code of a succession of code elements, which form at least a first codeword and a second codeword that define an absolute position, the first codeword and the second codeword are arranged interlaced with each other in that code elements associated with the second codeword are inserted into a succession of code elements associated with the first codeword. The code elements associated with the first codeword have inverse properties with respect to the code elements associated with the second code codeword.

Position-measuring device

A measurement system for determining acceleration and a position of an object. The measurement system includes a first sensor system for determining an acceleration of an object, the first sensor having a body with an electrically conducting measuring structure, a device for generating a first magnetic field, which acts on the measuring structure and a detector for detecting a second magnetic field or field changes, which are created by eddy currents generated by the measuring structure, the detector generating an output signal. A second sensor system for determining a position of the object, the second sensor system includes a scale graduation that lies opposite the detector and is scanned by the detector in a scanning area in which the measuring structure and the scale graduation are arranged placed on top of each other, or integrated into each other, and wherein the detector generates an acceleration signal and a position signal from a common scanning area. The measuring structure and the scale graduation are formed on a common body.

Measurement system comprising an acceleration sensor and a position sensor

A measuring standard to measure the rotational speed of a machine is described. A ring ( ) is integrally secured to the periphery ( ) of a drum-shaped base member ( ), by using soldering in accordance with the present invention. Through soldering, a stable measuring standard for an angular-position measuring system is created for high rotational speed applications.

Besides the measurement of angular position, an angular measurement system having an integrated Ferraris sensor also permits the direct measurement of angular acceleration or angular velocity. A graduated disk and an eddy-current disk are configured concentrically in one plane. Relief elements may ensure that temperature variations do not cause the connection between the graduated disk and the eddy-current disk to be lost.

A scanning unit for a magnetic position measuring device is described. The scanning unit includes a carrier body having at least one recess and at least one bore hole in communication with the recess. A detector unit, having one or more detector elements and an electrical connecting lead, is arranged in the area of the recess. The electric connecting lead is disposed through the bore hole. A covering element, covering the recess and protecting the elements arranged therein against mechanical damage, is arranged over the recess. A filling material is provided in the remaining free areas of the recess under the covering element.

An eddy current sensor including an arrangement for generating a first magenetic flux, which is essentially directed vertically with respect to a moved body, a detector coil for detecting an eddy field in the moved body and a second arrangement which generates a further adjustable magnetic flux, which is superimposed on the first magnetic flux to form a resultant magnetic flux.
