Adaptive cruise control system for motor vehicles

A braking device for a motor vehicle has a setpoint controlled deceleration device, which, upon receipt of a braking request input by a driver or an assistance system, for example, on the basis of a difference between a setpoint value and an actual value, drives a brake of the vehicle to generate a setpoint controlled braking torque for a deceleration of the motor vehicle. In addition, the braking device has a braking preparation control, which, upon receipt of a braking preparation signal, drives the brake independently of the setpoint value to produce at least one braking pressure for generating a preparation braking torque for a pre-deceleration of the motor vehicle. Method and device for controlling motion parameters representing the movement of a motor vehicle motion quantity

A hydraulic vehicle brake system in which normal service brake operation can be carried out by using external hydraulic energy, and in the event of a lack of external hydraulic energy, auxiliary brake operation by muscle power is possible, with a hydraulic transmission that comes from a master cylinder that can be actuated by means of the brake pedal. The external hydraulic energy is stored, for example, in an accumulator with a gas buffer, which can lead to a gas content in the hydraulic fluid for the service brake operation. The system includes a dual-circuit master cylinder associated with those wheel brakes of a vehicle axle that make a higher contribution to the vehicle deceleration and at the same time, cylinder/piston devices are installed between these wheel brakes and their associated service brake valves for the purpose of preventing hydraulic fluid from getting into these wheel brakes from the external energy source. The advantage is that neither gas nor air is carried into the wheel brakes where it could lead to the formation of bubbles in the event of a pressure drop and would be disadvantageous for an auxiliary brake operation by the master cylinder. The cylinder/piston devices increase the operational safety of the vehicle brake system when braking by muscle power.

The movement of a vehicle is controlled by actuating actuators which apply a braking force to the wheels. For this purpose, the rotational speeds of the wheels, the steering angle and at least one of the lateral acceleration and the yawing movement of the vehicle are detected. Signals for influencing actuators for braking the wheels are formed by controller means as a function of the detected data in such a way that a control variable which is dependent on at least the detected lateral movement or yawing movement of the vehicle is adjusted to a desired range of control variables, that is to say the actuators are influenced in such a way that the control variable is kept within a desired range. This desired range is defined by two specific limit values.

A movement variable which represents the movement of a vehicle is controlled by actuating at least one actuator for applying a braking force to the wheels. Controller means use controller internal variables to form signals for influencing the actuators with the effect of adjusting a control variable. The controller means has a first area adapted to the respective selected sensor configuration in such a way that the controller-internal variables are formed on the basis of the sensor signals, and a second area for processing the controller-internal variables independently of the selection of the sensor configuration. As a result, simple adaptation with low development and application outlay to a wide variety of sensor configurations is possible.
