The invention provides a method for communicating in a wireless communication network (), the wireless communication network comprising a plurality of base stations () and at least one mobile communication unit (), the mobile communication unit comprising a transceiver component (), a first Doppler compensation component (), and a measurement component (), wherein the first Doppler compensation component is adapted to compensate the Doppler shift of signals () being exchanged between a base station of the plurality of base stations and the transceiver component. A handover procedure between two base stations is possible for fast moving user equipments.

A method for performing communications in a wireless communication network includes receiving mobility information about at least one moving mobile station in a mobility server of the wireless communications network, using the mobility information from the mobility server for calculating antenna weights to be applied to antenna elements of an antenna array for steering a beam generated by the antenna array to the moving mobile station preferably using space-division multiple access, SDMA. Telecommunication method and apparatus thereof

The disclosure relates to a ground-based wireless cellular communication system providing in-flight broadband mobile communication services. The system includes at least one ground-based base station adapted for generating at least one cell defining a solid angle of space surrounding the base station. The ground-based base station includes an antenna array using two-dimensional-beamforming for generating at least one beam for serving at least one airplane in the space covered by the at least one cell using spatial-division multiple access (SDMA).
