An adhesive bond between at least one thermoplastic and an elastomer composition containing at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups as plasticizer. With the adhesive bond, it is possible to bond thermoplastics such as polycarbonate or polystyrene in particular to the elastomer composition essentially without stress cracking and hence reliably and permanently.

Moisture-curable polyurethane composition with reduced surface tackiness

A polyester urethane polymer containing isocyanate groups and being liquid at ambient temperature, obtained by reacting at least one monomeric diisocyanate and dimer fatty acid-based polyester diol having OH-number ranging between 28 and 120 mg KOH/g in NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1, and by subsequently removing large part of monomeric diisocyanate by means of suitable separation process, wherein polymer has NCO content ranging between 1.5 and 6% by wt. and maximum monomeric diisocyanate content of 0.5% by wt. The polymer permits the production of moisture-curing polyurethane compositions for application in ambient temperatures, having improved properties in terms of open time, adhesion, application and weather resistance, with unchanged good properties of storage stability, curing rate, strength, ductility, elasticity and hazardous material classification. Compositions of this type are particularly suitable for use as elastic adhesives in replacement glass for vehicles.

Dimer fatty acid-polyester diol-based polymer, containing isocyanate groups

A single-component sealant or adhesive composition, including: an aqueous polymer dispersion including water and at least one water-dispersed polymer P, at least one water-dispersed or water-dissolved epoxy- or isocyanate-functional cross-linker C with a nominal epoxy- or isocyanate-functionality of at least 2, wherein the at least one water-dispersed polymer P has functional groups selected from carboxylic acid groups, amino groups, and hydroxyl groups, and wherein the epoxy- or isocyanate-functional cross-linker C has a molecular weight of at least 1000 g/mol or a number average molecular weight M, determined by means of GPC against polystyrene as standard, of at least 1000 g/mol, and wherein the composition includes between 0.1 and 50, preferably between 0.1 and 10 parts by weight of said epoxy- or isocyanate-functional cross-linker C per 100 parts by weight of the at least one water-dispersed polymer P.

Water-based composition with chemical cross-linking

A method for preparing an acid solution by contacting at least one aromatic carboxylic or sulfonic acid with at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups as a solvent. The polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups is not volatile and exhibits a surprisingly high dissolving capacity for the aromatic carboxylic or sulfonic acid. The acid solution is very compatible in curable compositions and does not cause any emission or odor or migration effects. The acid solution is particularly suitable as a constituent of polyurethane compositions having latent curing agents for accelerating the hydrolysis of the latent reactive groups.

Solvent for aromatic carboxylic or sulfonic acids

A thixotropic agent for increasing the yield point of a curable composition, wherein the thixotropic agent includes (i) at least one urea compound from the reaction of at least one isocyanate with at least one amine and (ii) at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups. The thixotropic agent is preparable in a simple manner and forms a spreadable paste which is firm at room temperature. It is particularly suitable as a constituent of moisture-curing polyurethane or SMP compositions, giving a good increase in the yield point thereof, without adversely affecting storage stability or migration characteristics. It enables phthalate-free adhesives, sealants or coatings that have surprisingly good conveyability coupled with a high yield point, and do not cause any problems with odor or fogging.

Thixotropic agent for curable compositions

A blocked amine as curing aid for polymers containing isocyanate groups and having a low monomeric diisocyanate content, obtained from the reaction of at least one monomeric diisocyanate with at least one polyol in an NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1, followed by removal of a majority of the monomeric diisocyanates by means of a suitable separation method, and to the moisture-curing polyurethane compositions obtained from this use. The use enables storage-stable, moisture-curing polyurethane compositions which can be safely handled even without special safety precautions and can be sold without hazard labeling in many countries, have good processibility and cure reliably and rapidly at ambient temperatures to give a material of high strength, elasticity and extensibility, and high stability to weathering influences. Such moisture-curing polyurethane compositions are particularly suitable as elastic sealants, adhesives or coatings, especially also for exposed outdoor applications.

Polyurethane composition having a low content of monomeric diisocyantes

A pretreatment composition for adhesive bonds, including i) between 10 and 30 parts by weight of at least one polyurethane polymer PU containing isocyanate groups, obtained from the reaction of at least one poly(meth)acrylate polyol P and at least one polyisocyanate I1, with the proviso that the poly(meth)acrylate polyol P has an OH number of at least 35 and the polyurethane polymer PU has an NCO content of between 2.0% and 25.0% by weight, based on the polyurethane polymer PU; ii) 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of at least one organosilane OS; iii) 0 to 10 parts by weight of at least one further polyisocyanate I2; iv) 60 to 90 parts by weight of a solvent L; v) 0 to 15 parts by weight of an industrial carbon black; vi) 0 to 10 parts by weight of a fumed hydrophobic silica.

Solvent-based pretreatment agent having improved adhesion to residual adhesive beads

A moisture-curing polyurethane composition having a content of monomeric diisocyanates of at most 0.1 wt %, containing: at least one isocyanate-group-containing polyurethane polymer having a content of monomeric diisocyanates of at most 0.5 wt %, obtained from reaction of at least one monomeric diisocyanate with at least one polyether polyol at a NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1 and subsequent removal of a large part of monomeric diisocyanates by way of a suitable separating method; and at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups and free of isocyanate groups, as a plasticizer. Moisture-curing polyurethane composition is highly storage-stable when moisture is excluded, can be safely handled without special safety precautions, can be sold without hazard label, can be well processed, has long open time and has fast curing to form elastic material of high strength and extensibility, high cold flexibility, good adhesion properties and high stability with respect to heat and moisture.

Polyurethane composition having polymeric plasticizer and a low content of monomeric diisocyanates

A polyetherurethane polymer containing isocyanate groups and having an NCO content in the range from 1.3% to 1.9% by weight and a monomeric diisocyanate content of not more than 0.5% by weight, obtained from the reaction of at least one monomeric aromatic diisocyanate and a polyether triol having an average OH functionality in the range from 2.2 to 2.6 and an OH number in the range from 25 to 32 mg KOH/g in an NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1 and subsequent removal of a majority of the monomeric diisocyanates by means of a suitable separation method, and to moisture-curing polyurethane compositions having a monomeric diisocyanate content of less than 0.1% by weight, comprising said polymer.

Isocyanate-group-containing polymer having a low content of monomeric diisocyanates

A moisture-curing composition that is liquid at ambient temperature and optionally highly viscous, containing: at least one polyether urethane polymer (P1) containing isocyanate groups and having a content of at least 80% by wt. 1,2-propyleneoxy units in the polyether segment, and at least one hydrophobic polymer (P2) containing isocyanate groups and being liquid at ambient temperature, obtained by reacting at least one monomeric diisocyanate and a hydrophobic diol having an OH-number ranging between 28 and 120 mg KOH/g, the polymers P1 and P2 being produced separately and said polymers P1 and P2 having a weight ratio ranging between 70/30 and 98/2.

Moisture-curing composition with good adhesive properties

A two-component composition is described which comprises A) an isocyanate component comprising an isocyanate-terminated urethane prepolymer, B) a water component comprising water, and at least one latent amine hardener in component A). The two-component composition of the invention is suitable as a sealant, in particular as a joint sealant. Particular advantages are that primerless application is possible with good adhesion, even at low temperatures, such as 4.4&#xb0; C. or below. The substrate to be sealed are preferably concrete substrates.

Two-component polyurethane sealant for application at low temperature

A one-component moisture curing composition and a method for sealing construction joints against penetration of water. The one-component moisture curing composition includes at least one isocyanate-functional polyurethane polymer, at least one inorganic swelling agent selected from the group including aluminum sulfate and magnesium sulfate, and at least one hydrophilic aldimine of formula (I).

Water-swellable moisture curing one-component polyurethane sealant

A polyurethane composition including a first and a second component, wherein the first component is a polyol with an OH functionality in the range from 1.5 to 4 and a mean molecular weight in the range from 250 to 15,000 g/mol, a diol with two hydroxyl groups which are linked via a C2 to C0 carbon chain, and a compound that includes at least one thiol group. One of the two components also additionally contains at least one metal catalyst for the reaction of hydroxyl groups and isocyanate groups which can form thio complexes, and the second component contains enough polyisocyanate that at least 5% by weight of isocyanate groups, in relation to the total polyurethane composition, are contained, and the molar ratio of all thiol groups of the mentioned compound to all metal atoms of the metal catalyst is between 1:1 and 250:1.
