In order to make available polymer compounds that are improved with respect to their properties compared to conventional PTFE, on the one hand, and the further high-performance polymer or polymers, on the other, it is proposed that a polymer compound has a proportion of a fully fluorinated thermoplastic polymer material as well as a proportion of at least one further high-performance polymer different therefrom, selected from the group of polyphenylene sulphide (PPS), polyphenylene sulphone (PPSO), polyamide (PA), polyimide (PI), polyamide-imide (PAD, and polyether imide (PEI) as well as copolymers and derivatives of these polymers and copolymers, wherein the compound has a homogeneous distribution of the proportions of the polymers and the polymer material.

In order to provide polymer compounds which are improved with respect to their properties in comparison with conventional PTFE, on the one hand, and compounds thereof with additional high performance polymers, on the other hand, it is suggested that a polymer compound comprise a proportion of a fully fluorinated, thermoplastic polymer material as well as a proportion of at least one additional high performance polymer different thereto and selected from the group consisting of polyether ketone, polyether ether ketone and polyether aryl ketone as well as copolymers and derivatives of these polymers and copolymers, wherein the compound displays a homogeneous distribution of the proportions of the polymers and the polymer material.

In order to produce a carrier foil for printed circuit boards, which is particularly suitable for high component densities, it is proposed that said carrier foil be produced from a polymer material comprising a thermoplastically processable, substantially fully fluorinated plastics material.

In order to provide a simple and economical method for the production of a flowable powder of a fluoropolymer compound, there is proposed a method for the production of a flowable powder of a fluoropolymer compound from a dry mixture, which contains at least one fluoropolymer material and at least one filler, including the steps of pressing the dry mixture into lumps and crushing the lumps to form the flowable powder.

A process is described for the preparation of a crosslinkable paint binder by working up a solution of a fluorine-containing copolymer composed of copolymerized units of a perfluoroolefin, a vinyl ester of a short-chain, saponifiable carboxylic acid and a vinyl ester of a strongly branched carboxylic acid which resists saponification. In this process, the bulk of the solvent and the residual monomers are first removed by distillation, the residual highly viscous copolymer is then dissolved in a mixture of alkanol and another solvent which is also capable of dissolving the saponified copolymer to form a homogeneous solution, and the alkaline saponification is subsequently carried out. If desired, the solvent is removed and exchanged for a paint solvent and this solution is finally filtered. A mild saponification is achieved in this manner.
