The present invention relates to a diesel oxidizing catalytic converter which comprises a supporting body with a length L which extends between a first end surface a and a second end surface b, and catalytically active material zones A and B of different composition which are arranged on the supporting body, wherein &#x2014;material zone A comprises palladium or platinum and palladium in a weight ratio Pt:Pd of &#x3c;1 and, starting from the end surface a, extends to from 20% to 80% of the length L, and &#x2014;material zone B comprises platinum and palladium in a weight ratio Pt:Pd of &#x3c;10 and extends to from 80% to 100% of the length L, and wherein material zone B is arranged above material zone A and the weight ratio Pt:Pd in relation to the material zones A and B is from 1.5 to 3.0.

The invention relates to a particle filter, which comprises a wall flow filter and SCR-active material, wherein the wall flow filter comprises ducts which extend in parallel between the first and the second end of the wall flow filter and which are alternately closed in a gas-tight manner either at the first or the second end and which are separated by porous walls, the pores of which have inner surfaces, and the SCR-active material is located in the form of a coating on the inner surfaces of the pores of the porous walls, characterized in that the coating has a gradient, such that the side of the coating facing the exhaust gas has a higher selectivity in the SCR reaction than the side of the coating that faces the inner surfaces of the pores. The SCR-active material is preferably a small-pore zeolite, which has a maximum ring size of eight tetrahedral atoms and is exchanged with copper and/or iron.

A catalytically active particulate filter is proposed which is suitable for use in an exhaust gas cleaning system for diesel engines. To equip a diesel particle filter with a zeolite-containing coating uniformly over the entire length of the particle filter and with a further zeolite-free coating which is applied, from the entry side of the filter, solely up to a specific length of the filter, it is proposed, first, to apply the zeolite-free coating from the entry side of the filter and only thereafter to apply the zeolite-containing coating over the entire length of the filter from the exit side of the filter. As a result of this sequence of coatings, a better adhesive strength of the coatings than when both coatings are applied from the entry side is ensured.

The invention relates to a special device for the purification of diesel exhaust gases, which device comprises, in the flow direction of the exhaust gas, an oxidation catalyst, a diesel particle filter with catalytically active coating, and, downstream of a device for introducing a reducing agent from an external reducing agent source, an SCR catalyst. The oxidation catalyst and the catalytically active coating of the diesel particle filter contain palladium and platinum. The ratio of the noble metals platinum and palladium in the overall system and on the individual components, oxidation catalyst and catalytically coated diesel particle filter, are coordinated with one another in such a way as to obtain firstly an optimum NO/NOratio in the exhaust gas upstream of the downstream SCR catalyst, and secondly optimum heating and HC conversion behaviour during an active particle filter regeneration.
