An electric energy storage device has a housing, a positive pole and a negative pole, and a deep discharge device integrated in the housing. The device further has a discharge load and it is configured such that the two poles can be electrically connected by way of the discharge load. There is enabled targeted and controlled deep discharging of the energy storage device and improved operating reliability.

An electrochemical or electric layer system, having at least two electrode layers and at least one ion-conducting layer disposed between two electrode layers. A charging device for an energy store, e.g., a lithium ion battery in an electric vehicle, may include a circuit for adjusting the charging device in a full charging mode or a parked charging mode, wherein the charging device is set up for producing a fully charged state of the energy store in full charging mode, and for producing a parked charged state of the energy store in parked charging mode, wherein the parked charging state corresponds to a reduced charge state of the energy store. Methods for operating such a charging device, and an electric vehicle having such a charging device, may also be provided.

An energy storage cell has a cell body with an areal expansion in an extension plane, with four side faces bounding a circumference of the area of extent and having each two of the side faces parallel to one another. A conductor electrode and a second electrode are disposed on one of the side faces symmetrically in the direction of the circumference of the extension plane relative to a center of the corresponding side face. A line from a contact point between an inward facing edge of the electrodes to a center point of the extension plane encloses an angle &#x3bb; of 10&#xb0;&#x3c;&#x3bb;&#x3c;36&#xb0; with the corresponding side face. The center of the side face and/or a contact point of an outward facing edge of the electrodes forms an angle &#x3b2; about the center point of the extension plane of 8&#xb0;&#x3c;&#x3b2;&#x3c;45&#xb0; with the corresponding side face with said center.

Energy storage cell

A battery has two or more individual cells that are connected in series and which, for contacting purposes, each has at least one contact electrode to the positive electrode (cathode) and at least one contact electrode to the negative electrode (anode). The two are made of metals that differ from each other. The contact electrodes to the anode and the cathode have passive corrosion protection at least in the respective contacting region of the contact electrodes.

A rechargeable battery cell has at least one energy-optimized cell unit and at least one power-optimized cell unit. The power-optimized cell unit is configured in such a way that it can be used to generate a higher power than with the energy-optimized cell unit. The energy-optimized cell unit is configured in such a way that it can be used to store a higher quantity of energy per volume of the energy-optimized cell unit and/or per mass of the energy-optimized cell unit than with the power-optimized cell unit. The at least one energy-optimized cell unit and the at least one power-optimized cell unit are arranged in a common cell housing.
