A harness for securing more than one part of a vehicle to a station comprising a tether and a U-lock. The U-lock includes a tubular body and a solid shackle. The body has a pair of aligned holes in the wall and a locking mechanism. The shackle is a U-shaped, solid rod, where one leg has a bent foot that fits into one aligned hole and the other leg has a shaped foot adapted to be captured by the locking mechanism after being inserted into the other aligned hole. The tether includes a length of flexible material and a cuff. The length is a braided cable or a chain, and is sheathed. A hardened steel cuff is rotatably connected to the one end of the length. The cuff has a number of configurations of openings through which components of the U-lock are inserted before the U-lock is assembled. A loop is connected to the other end of the length and is sized to permit the cuff, but not the U-lock, to pass through.

A universal mounting bracket for U-locks of the kind featuring a U-shaped shackle and a cross bar for securing motorcycles, scooters, mopeds and the like is disclosed. The universal mounting bracket is adjustable to mount U-locks of sizes varying from about 2' to about 6' as measured between the legs, as well as the legs ranging in lengths from about 5' to about 12', and with the thickness of the respective legs varying from about 1/2' to about 3/4'. Essentially, the universal mounting bracket includes a base plate, a vise removably attached thereto at one end, a cam member mounted thereto with limited rotational displacement at the other end, and means for securing the bracket to a motorcycle, scooter, moped or the like.

Mounting bracket for U-locks

An improved bicycle lock, featuring a U-shaped shackle, a cross bar and means for securing one to the other, is disclosed. The means for securing the shackle to the cross bar also functions as a fulcrum, permitting a tilting movement between the two parts, required in assembling and dissassembling them. The means further includes a locking mechanism removably mounted in the cross bar in between the shackle's legs, and features a dead bolt. The cross bar extends beyond the shackle's legs less than twice the diameter of one of those legs, resulting in a compact and sturdy design. A plastic cover encloses at least the cross bar and is preferably formed of two parts slidably fitted over the cross bar, with means for securing the two parts to one another. Preferably, an environmental protection means is provided for the locking mechanism.

Bicycle lock

An improved fastener for releasably securing bicycle accessories to a bicycle frame is disclosed. The fastener is formed with an integral body of a hard resilient polymer including a pair of opposed retainer portions and a medial portion therebetween. One retainer portion has an opening defined by a flexible pair of jaws with inner surfaces presenting a curved seat for snugly receiving a part of a bicycle frame ranging in diameter from one to about 11/2 inches. The medial portion acts as a buffer for mechanically and flexibly isolating the pair of retainer portions from each other and features a cusped opening. The other retainer portion is formed with a cross sectional opening including circular, rectangular, oval, crescent-shaped, pentagonal, hexagonal and octogonal. The pair of jaws are secured to the bicycle part by either a bent bolt, a straight bolt or a sex bolt.

Fastener for bicycle accessories

A clamp for releasably securing a lock to a bicycle frame is disclosed. The clamp is formed as a unitary body of a hard yet resilient plastic material, which unitary body defines a pair of spaced tubular openings: one to fit about the frame and the other to hold the lock. The pair of tubular openings are axially split at their respective outer peripheries, with an arcuate segment being removed from each tubular opening along the respective splits. A pair of opposed parallel shoulders extend astride each of the splits, with each pair of shoulders featuring fastening means. Preferably, the plastic material is nylon. Preferably, one of the pair of spaced tubular openings is tapered along its axial length.

An improved security lock for automobiles and the like and of the type designed to lock a control pedal and the steering wheel together is disclosed. The security lock includes a telescopic part featuring an improved length adjustment for speed and strength and the use of a friction device; protective outer member mounted for free rotation about one end of the telescopic part housing the lock cylinder to guard against forceful breaking of the telescopic part and against gaining access to the lock cylinder; and an improved shackle to fit about the steering wheel and being pivotally anchored in the telescopic part.

Security lock

A locking device for securing a bicycle or the like to a post or other fixture. The locking device features a replaceable lock cylinder, which in turn allows for both replacing merely the lock cylinder when the keys get lost and also allows for conforming the lock cylinder of the device to an identical lock cylinder used in the owner's home so that one key, preferably a flat key, services both the device and the home. The lock cylinder cannot, however, be removed when the device is locked and in use. The key, on the other hand, can only be removed when the device is locked.

A bracket is provided for carrying and/or storing a large U-shaped lock used to secure a motorcycle or the like by passing the U-shaped shackle through the wheel of the bike and closing the ends of the shackle by means of a cross bar locked thereto. The bracket is comprised of a flat body portion along at least one edge of which is formed a tubular or semi-tubular receptacle adapted to receive a leg of the U-shaped lock shackle. Mounted to the body portion is a fastening device for engaging the cross bar of the lock to prevent longitudinal movement thereof with respect to the bracket. The bracket when used on a motorcycle preferably is mounted against the shock absorber for the rear wheel thereof.

Bracket for motorcycle lock

A locking mechanism and storage bracket are provided for use in securing bicycles or the like to a post or other fixture. The lock includes a relatively large U-shaped shackle formed from cylindrical hard metal stock, one leg of which terminates in a bent foot portion. The other leg extends parallel to the first leg and is formed with a shoulder near the end thereof. The lock also includes a tubular cross piece formed with a pair of openings in register with the ends of the shackle legs and provided with a key operated lock in one end of the cross piece adapted to lock with the shoulder of the other shackle leg when assembled thereto. The bent foot portion locks to the cross piece by inserting the end of the foot in its cooperating opening and pivoting the shackle to bring the end of the other leg into its opening where it is secured by the key operated lock. A mounting bracket is provided for storing the locking mechanism when not in use and is comprised of a tubular socket mountable to the bicycle frame and formed with a re-entrant L-shaped slot by means of which one end of the lock cross piece may be inserted in the socket with the shackle aligned with the slot opening. The lock is then pressed into the socket and rotated approximately 90.degree. to secure it to the bracket.

Bicycle lock and bracket

A bicycle lock comprised of a U-shaped shackle and a bolt lockable across the end of the shackle is detachably connected to a bracket mountable to the bicycle frame for storage purposes. The lock bolt is formed with a flat shank portion and an enlarged end portion. The shank portion passes through a pair of opposing slots formed at the ends of the shackle legs to engage a locking mechanism on one leg of the shackle. The enlarged end of the bolt prevents the bolt from passing through the shackle leg and also serves to engage the bracket. The bracket preferably is formed from two strips of metal bent and joined to define a pair of parallel leg sections with a pair of spaced apart semi-cylindrical portions one of which engages a part of the bicycle frame while the other engages the enlarged end of the bolt. Integral tab portions are formed on the free end of the bracket to extend through the shackle slot and against the shank of the bolt to hold the lock assembly in clamping engagement against the bracket. The lock assembly may be separated from the bracket by either unlocking the bolt from the shackle or bending the legs of the shackle together sufficiently to clear the tabs of the bracket.
