A golf club head includes a body that defines an internal cavity, a toe side, a heel side, a front side, an aft side, a top side, and a bottom side. The body includes a crown, a sole portion, and a hosel. When the golf club head is at address, the golf club head defines a rectangular volume that intersects outermost points on the toe side, the heel side, the front side, the aft side, the top side, and the bottom side of the body. The body of the golf club head defines eighteen heel-toe cross sections that are arranged parallel to a y-z plane and spaced evenly along a heel-toe direction within the rectangular volume. An average value of the centroid height of a first heel-toe cross section, a second heel-toe cross section, and a third heel-toe cross section is less than about 40 millimeters.

A golf club head can include a body having a toe region and a heel region. The golf club body defines an opening to an internal cavity of the body and the opening is surrounded by a perimeter. The golf club head includes a face, a first support member, and a sole plate supported by the first support member and secured to the body at the perimeter. The sole plate is configured to be secured to the body in a plurality of arrangements.

The invention provides golf club heads having aerodynamic features that disrupt air flow over the face when the club is swung. The features are milled into the face of the club head, including curved faces found in wood-type club heads. During a swing, the features cause the boundary layer to separate at a point closer to the rear of the club head during a swing, resulting in reduced drag. The invention also provides golf club heads with faces having a central region of symmetrical surface roughness. The symmetrical roughness in the central region of the face of wood-type club heads allows for shots with less spin and greater distance.

This disclosure describes golf club heads with optimized aerodynamics, in which a highly-lifted trailing edge minimizes drag, and in which a protruding element optimizes a location of a club head center of gravity. Features of the disclosure reduce drag forces on a club head during a golf swing and consequently reduce the work required to move the club head through the air. Thus, the club heads allow golfers to achieve faster golf swing velocities and increase golf shot distances.

The invention generally relates to a grip for a golf club having a housing portion specifically for housing an accessory, the grip specifically configured to enhance performance and enjoyment of the game of golf. Grips of the invention help to provide a smoother gripping surface and to prevent relative motion between the accessory and the club when the accessory is coupled to the club.

The invention relates to golf clubs, more particularly to mechanisms for fastening accessories to clubs. The invention provides a golf club configured to house an electronic device such as an RFID tag within a recess within the grip, thereby protecting the device from the stress, shock, and exposure that arises when a golf club is used.

The invention provides a golf club head that includes a weight adjustment system inside of the club head. Preferably, when the club is played, no part of the adjustment system is directly accessible or exposed to an exterior of the club. The club head may include a panel that opens or is removable, or the club head may be disassembled to provide access to the internal weight adjustment system. A weight adjustment system generally includes at least one mechanism by which a mass distribution of the golf club head can be changed.
