Disclosed embodiments include apparatuses, systems, and methods for positioning electrodes within a body. In an illustrative embodiment, an apparatus for slidably moving multiple features relative to a sheath inserted into a body and positioned relative to a reference point includes a primary actuator configured to move a primary electrode, a secondary actuator configured to move a secondary electrode, and a control mechanism. The control mechanism is configured to selectively prevent movement of at least one of the primary actuator based on a position of the secondary actuator and of the secondary actuator based on a position of the primary actuator and lock positions of the primary actuator and the secondary actuator.

User interface and lock features for positioning multiple components within a body

A device for providing access to a nodule, lesion, or pathological area in a lung or other body organ or lumen. The device includes a sheath portion having a proximal end and a distal end and a plurality of stabilization wires. The sheath portion includes a primary lumen that extends from the proximal end to the distal end and a plurality of secondary lumens that extend from the proximal end to the distal end. The stabilization wires are configured to be slidably received within the secondary lumens. The length of the stabilization wires is greater than the length of the secondary lumens.

Pulmonary nodule access devices and methods of using the same

A device having a sheath, a medical device, a stylet, a handle and a plunger device. The handle includes portions connected proximal ends of the sheath, the medical device and the stylet and a chamber portion connected to the actuator. The chamber portion includes a volume of space configured to volumetrically connect to at a lumen of the medical device, the sheath or the stylet and a plunger device configured to be slidably received within the chamber portion. The plunger device is able to pneumatically isolate a proximal portion of the volume of space from a distal portion of the volume of space. Proximal movement of the stylet and the plunger device cause a suction effect (i.e., reduced pressure) at the distal end of the sheath, the medical device and/or the stylet.

Needle handle with vacuum chamber

A device having a sheath, a medical device, a stylet, a handle having a chamber portion and a plunger device. The handle connects to proximal ends of the sheath, the medical device, and the stylet. The chamber portion includes a volume of space configured to volumetrically connect to at a lumen of the medical device, the sheath or the stylet. The plunger device slides and moves within the chamber portion. The plunger device is able to pneumatically or hydraulically isolate a proximal portion of the volume of space from a distal portion of the volume of space. Proximal movement of the stylet and the plunger device cause a suction effect (i.e., negative or reduced pressure) at the distal end of the sheath and/or the medical device.

A needle system includes a needle, a needle handle coupled to a proximal end of the needle and a needle stiffening device. The needle stiffening device includes a first handle portion, a second handle portion, a stylet having a distal end component and a shaft component, a fixing component configured to fix a proximal end of the stylet to the first handle portion, a hollow component configured to slidably receive the shaft component of the stylet and a compression device having a proximal end that makes contact with a distal end of the hollow component and a distal end that makes contact with the distal end component of the stylet. A distal end of the second handle portion makes contact with a proximal end of the hollow component within the first handle portion.

System and methods for controlling stiffness of a needle or catheter

A stencil manufacturing and printing process reduces printed image distortion by matching screen deflection in the photostencil preparation phase with stencil deflection in the printing phase. The usual squeegee is replaced by atmospheric pressure and screen/stencil deflection is induced by producing a vacuum in a gasketed airtight chamber under the screen through a specially constructed air distribution frame. Compressed air can be introduced in the chamber through the same frame to rapidly release the stencil from the substrate when the printing is completed. A control unit incorporating a pressure sensor facilitates control of the printing process. Correlation of screen tension constant and frame off-contact distance with chamber pressure readings provides a precise measure of screen area of contact. The frame may have a 2-piece construction with the stencil/screen supported by a removable insert and the air distribution and pressure level sensing functions afforded by a master frame into which the insert fits.
