A mechanical toy incorporating structures that coordinate the positioning and movement of specific body parts for rotating, flipping and grasping movements with programmable systems, methods, and devices within toy structures. Extensions connected to opposite sides of a motive body or head assembly including grasping members and support structures for rotating and/or turning actions about a central body portion including grasping appendages. The toy apparatus may also interact with accessory items to enhance play value.

Rotating flipping and grasping movements in mechanical toys

In an aspect, an apparatus and method are provided for creating an illusion of animation of a subject shape. The apparatus includes a screen, an intermediate body, a plurality of lights, and a controller in electronic communication with the plurality of lights. The controller is operable to turn the plurality of lights on and off in at least one of: a selected order, a combination, and a simultaneous operation of all of the lights. The intermediate body and the plurality of lights are positioned relative to said screen such that the intermediate body is positioned between the screen and the plurality of lights and such that said plurality of lights are operable to project a plurality of unique outlines of at least portions of the intermediate body onto the screen to generate an illusion of animation of the subject shape.

Apparatus and method for generating an appearance of animation

A method for encoding a carrier signal in a video signal, the video signal having one or more frames, the frames each having a first field and a second field, the first field and the second field of each frame having a plurality of scan lines, each having a plurality of pixels with an intensity value indicating brightness, the method comprising selectively designating the plurality of scan lines of the first field of the one or more frames as up lines or down lines, calculating an optimum amount of adjustment to the pixels of the up lines and the down lines, and selectively increasing the intensity value of pixels of the up lines and decreasing the intensity value of pixels of the down lines by the optimum amount of adjustment thereby modulating the video signal with a carrier signal and creating a modulated video signal.

Method and system for enhanced modulation of video signals

Methods and systems for dual channel encoding and detection are described. In one embodiment, auxiliary data may be encoded in an audio portion of one or more frames of a content signal based on an audio encoding technique. The auxiliary data may be encoded in a video portion of the one or more frames based on a video encoding technique. The encoding of the auxiliary data in the audio portion and the video portion may produce a modulated content signal. The modulated content signal may include one or more dual encoded frames. A method, apparatus and system for signal modulation. A plurality of pixels are selected in a pattern such that a first pixel group of the plurality of pixels is unpaired with a second pixel group of the plurality of pixels throughout the pattern in a portion of a video signal. The intensity of the plurality of the pixels is altered at a constant magnitude in the portion of the video signal pursuant to the pattern in a substantially invisible way.

Methods and systems for encoding and decoding audio signals are described. In one embodiment, a first DTMF tone in an audio signal may be identified and decoded. A second DTMF tone in the audio signal may be identified and decoded at a time delay from the first DTMF tone. A requested action is determined for an electronic figurine associated with the first DTMF tone and the second DTMF tone. The second DTMF tone is different than the first DTMF tone. Methods and systems for encoding and decoding audio signals

A system for selectively increasing and decreasing the intensity of scan lines in a plurality of fields of a video signal over a time interval and not increasing or decreasing the intensity of the video scan lines in the remaining plurality of frames, thereby enabling a decoder to use an average intensity value comparison or to accumulate the differences in signal strength when fields are changing state from encoded to unencoded or encoded to unencoded to determine whether an auxiliary signal is present during the time interval.
