A method and implementation for network communication is disclosed where one or more network access points are provided for communicating with a plurality of clients over a plurality of carriers. An arrangement is provided for monitoring on or more dedicated carriers for new clients seeking to associate with the network. The new client is detected over the carrier or carriers and he new client is then associated to the network over the carrier or carriers.

A decoding system having a clock recovery system for maintaining the optimum time for sampling a signal. The clock recovery system is particularly useful in decoding 1 Mbps signals for two-level Gaussian frequency shift key (GFSK) modulation and 2 Mbps signals for four-level Gaussian frequency shift key (GFSK) modulation. The clock recovery system remains reliable with temperature variations, and maintains a stable frequency independent of data pattern.

A cellular communication device for a cellular communication network which includes a radio-frequency (RF) transmitter for transmitting an RF signal at an output power level to one or more other devices in the cellular communication network; an RF receiver for receiving an RF signal from one or more other devices in the cellular communication network; and a gain control circuit for sampling the output power level to obtain a sampled output power level signal, digitizing the sampled output power level signal, and adjusting a gain of the RF transmitter based on the digitized sampled output power level signal in order that the output power level of the RF transmitter approaches a predefined output power level. The gain may also be adjusted in response to the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) in order to conserve battery power.
