A roof ridge vent mat for installation overlying an open roof ridge to provide ventilation to a space beneath a roof is provided. The ridge vent mat is a continuous elongate material of randomly convoluted polymeric filaments having an openwork upper face, an openwork lower face, a plurality of hollow recesses extending into the mat and opening into the lower face, and opposite longitudinally extending openwork side edges. The openwork upper face is formed of randomly convoluted filaments formed to provide a relatively flat surface of sufficient density to catch heads of fasteners. The plurality of hollow recesses is defined by a plurality of upstanding openwork walls of convoluted filaments that extend from the upper face to the lower face of the mat. The upstanding openwork walls are arranged in a latticework structure such that no unobstructed passageway extent through the mat through which wind-blown rain and snow can freely pass into the side edges of the mat and laterally pass through the mat. A method of assembling an exterior wall or roof structure of a building with a water-resistive barrier includes covering a surface of an inner sheathing member of a wall or roof structure with a series of partially overlapping courses of water-resistive sheet material. Each overlapping section of the courses of water-resistive sheet material is bonded together with a continuous strip of adhesive to form an air-tight seam. The strip of adhesive is carried integrally on the water-resistive sheet material thereby eliminating a need for separately applying construction tape to seal the seams. A water-resistive barrier and assembly of an exterior wall or roof assembly of a building is also provided.

A roof ridge vent comprises a one-piece, elongate body rollable into a spiral roll. The vent body has an elongate upper wall with a pair of longitudinally-extending side edges, an underside, and a plurality of bracing walls depending therefrom. The vent body further includes a pair of grillwork walls with ventilation openings extending downwardly and outwardly from the side edges of the upper wall. Still further, the vent body includes a pair of longitudinally-extending sidewalls that project from the outer edges of each of the grillwork walls and that are disposed upright with respect to the upper wall. Each of the sidewalls has a continuous, longitudinally-extending top strip and a spaced apart pair of longitudinally-extending walls depending from the top strip. The pair of walls includes a series of drainage openings which provide drainage paths through the sidewalls and which permit the sidewalls to be rolled into the spiral roll.

A mortar and debris collection device for use within a cavity wall to prevent the blockage of weep holes at the base of the wall. The cavity wall assembly includes a masonry wall, an adjacent inner wall, a wall cavity therebetween, and a free-standing elongate strip of openwork material located within the cavity forming a debris collection surface a spaced distance above a base surface of the cavity. Preferably, the openwork material is inserted and positioned within the cavity after the inner wall and only a base portion of the outer masonry wall is constructed. Thereafter, the upper portion of the outer masonry wall is constructed and any mortar or debris falling into the cavity is caught and supported on the debris collection surface.

A roof ridge vent and installation includes a ventilation material having walls defining a plurality of separate open cellular cavities, such as a honeycomb material, that may or may not extend from the underside of a separate sheet material. Preferably, the walls of the ventilation material extend substantially vertically within the vent, and paths of ventilation, which extend from on open slot on the roof ridge to either longitudinally-extending side edge of the vent, extend transversely through the walls of the ventilation material. To this end, the walls are perforated or are made of an air permeable material, more preferably, a non-wicking hydrophobic material or a non-woven fabric having a multiplicity of closely spaced openings. Alternatively, paths of ventilation can be provided by channels formed between adjacent, spaced-apart sections of the ventilation material. Preferably, the vent is continuous and elongate and is stored and shipped in a spiral roll.

A roof ridge vent having a ventilation component integrally secured to a waterproof outer covering. During installation of the vent, both the ventilation component and outer covering are simultaneously installed in a single process step. The use and separate installation of cap shingles or the like over a pre-installed vent is eliminated. The vent and covering are provided in an elongate, continuous length in a spiral roll and are installed as a single continuous length on a roof ridge overlying an elongate open ventilation slot.

A roof ridge vent has a pair of opposed, spaced-apart, elongate strips of ventilation material providing ventilation passageways transversely therethrough and forms opposed longitudinally-extending sides of the vent. The elongate ventilation strips are interconnected by a plurality of supports extending transverse relative to the elongate ventilation strips. Each adjacent pair of supports defines an opening therebetween such that an underlying roof surface is visible to an installer through the openings. A vent assembly and method of installation are provided.

Preferably, the ridge vent includes a ventilation material that has opposite longitudinally-extending sides and a longitudinally-extending central section that is transparent. The transparent central section simplifies and enables accurate placement of the vent on the roof ridge.

A roof ridge vent formed from a continuous, indeterminate-length, elongate strip of openwork material that has a pair of longitudinally-extending side edges each covered with a waterproof material. The edge coverings function as wind baffles and promote air circulation through the vent when wind blows over the roof ridge. The ridge vent is rollable lengthwise into a spiral roll for storage and shipment and is unrolled lengthwise during installation on a roof ridge.

A ridge vent, roof ridge vent installation, and method of installing a ridge vent is provided. Preferably, the ridge vent includes a ventilation material that has opposite longitudinally-extending side edges that are covered with an air permeable filter material. A longitudinally-extending central section of the vent is not covered by the air permeable filter material, is transparent, and enables a ventilating air flow to pass through the vent in a manner requiring only a single pass through the air permeable material. This permits greater air flow through the vent, and the transparent central section simplifies and enables accurate placement of the vent on the roof ridge.

A roll-form spacer product providing an air space and drainage passageways within a building structure. Preferably, the spacer product is a thermoplasic web of material having hollow spacer elements formed integrally thereon. A first set of spacer elements projects outwardly from one face of the web and a second set of spacer elements projects from the other face of the web. The first and second sets of spacer elements are offset, project in opposite directions, and create air space and drainage passageways along each face. Thus, in a wall or roof construction, air, vapor and water are provided with exit paths extending along both the inner sheathing member and the outer building material. In addition, the web can also be provided with apertures for creating transverse paths therethrough.

A roll-form spacer product providing air space and drainage passageways within a building structure. Preferably, the spacer product is a corrugated web of material having undulating front and rear faces and serpentine-shaped longitudinally extending edges. The faces include alternating arrays of grooves and ridges which extend perpendicular to the side edges and parallel to an axis of a spiral roll of the spacer. Thus, when the spacer is unrolled and applied to a building structure in a plurality of horizontally extending rows, the ridges and grooves are substantially vertically-disposed to form a plurality of unobstructed passageways for the drainage of moisture. Preferably, the web is made of an openwork mat of randomly convoluted polymeric filaments, and thus, enables ready circulation of air.

Spacer for providing drainage passageways within building structures

A roll-form roof ridge vent having alignment means to facilitate ease of installation. The indeterminate-length, single-sheet vent is provided with a pliable medial hinge strip, or a set of expandable live hinges, which enable the otherwise straight vent to be laterally and/or angularly repositioned from its substantially straight configuration. Thus, lateral adjustments can be made to the positioning of the vent as it is being installed so that the vent is centered throughout its length over the roof ridge. The lateral adjustments do not result in buckling of the vent or unwanted distortion.
