A translating harness includes an umbilical within a translating assembly to define a translation distance. A method for operating the translating harness incudes launching a vehicle from a tube of a host system, the translating harness between a host system and the vehicle; completing a translation length of the translation harness; and disconnecting a vehicle connector of the translating harness from the vehicle while the vehicle is within the tube.

Translating harness with passive disconnect

A system for aligning a weapon to a high-performance target sensor. A reference measurement sensor installed on the target sensor measures the direction and range to each of several references points on the weapon. From these measurements, and measurement by the target sensor of target states, a processing circuit calculates the states of the target in a coordinate system of the weapon. Each reference point may be a retroreflector; the reference measurement sensor may include an imaging sensor to measure direction, and a laser range finder to measure range.

System for aligning target sensor and weapon

An aircraft wing has hinged ribs, and a skin covering the ribs. The ribs each include plural rib sections, array from the leading edge of the wing, to the trailing edge of the wing, and a lock to hold the rib sections together in a deployed state or condition. The wings are initially in a stowed state, with the ribs and the rib sections having a curved chord, and deploy to the deployed state, in which the ribs have a straightened chord that defines an airfoil state. The wing may have foam material between the ribs to allow the wings to expand in the wingspan direction, for instance after the ribs have been placed in the deployed state.
