Systems and methods for roaming between a mobile node and at least one serving node connected to a network are disclosed. The present application provides a method for roaming between. In the system and method, a first communication is established between the mobile node and one of the serving nodes through a control server, when an Ethernet transceiver is used by the mobile node. Ethernet is used for communications between the mobile node and the control server, and a wireless communication technology for communications between the control server and the serving node. The control server also translates communications between Ethernet and the wireless communication technology. In the system and method, a second communication is established between the mobile node and one of the serving nodes with the wireless communication technology, when a wireless communication technology transceiver is used by the mobile node.

A method and system for call monitoring in a wireless network by querying various network components for information about a call path through the wireless network. The network components in the wireless network may include foreign agent control nodes, home agent control nodes, packet data serving nodes, home agents, and/or authentication, authorization, and accounting servers. These network components may be queried to determine the foreign agent and the home agent to which a call is assigned. The foreign agent and the home agent may also define information about a call on the wireless network, i.e., the state of the call. A system and method are shown for load balancing across global network resources using an existing network protocol, such as Mobile IP, having a redirect feature. According to one method, each of a plurality of servers at a data center uses Mobile IP to obtain an IP address that is also provided to a content server site. A system and methods are shown for providing packet data serving node (PDSN) load balancing and fault tolerance. One exemplary method includes providing an access node with a plurality of packet data serving nodes and at least one system manager, receiving from a radio node on a first packet data serving node a registration request, determining that the first packet data serving node is unable to serve the registration request, and sending a packet data serving node selection request from the first packet data serving node to the system manager. The method further includes determining at the system manager a second packet data serving node to serve the registration request, and providing an address of the second packet data serving node to the first packet data serving node. System and method for packet data serving node load balancing and fault tolerance

In a method and system of establishing mobile network communications in a network such as a mobile IP network, an agent node receives a registration request message that includes routing address fields such as a home address field, a home agent address field, and a care-of address field. The registration request further includes an extension field. The extension field of the registration request message includes at least one substitute address value. The agent node interprets the registration request message by selecting addresses from the message. When an address value in an address field is a void value, the agent node selects a substitute address value from the extension field. When an address value in the address field is not a void value, the agent node selects the address value in the address field. Using the selected addresses, the agent node establishes a mobile network session with the mobile node.
