Methods and apparatus are described for marine asset security and tracking (MAST). A method includes transmitting identification data, location data and environmental state sensor data from a radio frequency tag. An apparatus includes a radio frequency tag that transmits identification data, location data and environmental state sensor data. Another method includes transmitting identification data and location data from a radio frequency tag using hybrid spread-spectrum modulation. Another apparatus includes a radio frequency tag that transmits both identification data and location data using hybrid spread-spectrum modulation.

Marine asset security and tracking (MAST) system

Methods, systems and devices are described for a direct-sequence spread-spectrum communication scheme that increases the number of users by utilizing a plurality of closely spaced orthogonal carriers that produce overlapping spectra. A method includes overlapping a plurality of direct-sequence spread-spectrum signals using carrier frequencies that are orthogonally spaced relative to a bit rate. The methods, systems and devices provide advantages because they can accommodate an increase in the number of normalized users and can optimize the loading of users across multiple frequency channels.

Hybrid spread-spectrum technique for expanding channel capacity

A fast-synchronizing receiver having a circuit including an equalizer configured for manipulating an analog signal; a detector in communication with the equalizer; a filter in communication with the detector; an oscillator in communication with the filter; a gate for receiving the manipulated signal; a circuit portion for synchronizing and tracking the manipulated signal; a summing circuit in communication with the circuit portion; and an output gate.

Fast-synchronizing high-fidelity spread-spectrum receiver

A method for sensing and analyzing data with surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices comprises the steps of: propagating a sampling signal at a fundamental frequency through a SAW device coated for selective adsorption; measuring at least one parameter of at least one higher order harmonic of the fundamental frequency sampling signal; exposing the coated SAW device to enable the selective adsorption; measuring the at least one parameter of the at least one higher order harmonic of the fundamental frequency sampling signal after the exposing step; comparing the measurements of the at least one parameter of the at least one higher order harmonic before and after the exposing step; and, deriving a result of the selective adsorption based upon the comparing step. The at least one parameter is harmonic power and harmonic frequency. The at least one higher order harmonic is one or more odd harmonics.

Surface acoustic wave harmonic analysis

The system of the present invention provides physical access control for storage media in stand-alone workstations which are processing classified or unclassified sensitive information. The system protects the workstation media from theft, tampering and from observation of the monitor by passers-by. The system, when invoked, presents an alarmed-state security screen, allows only passwords to be entered from the keyboard, and protects writable media from access or removal. An alarm sounds if (a) any drives (both internal and external) containing writable media are opened or removed, (b) the program is interrupted, (c) too many invalid password characters are entered, or (d) the power is interrupted.
