Different mechanical drive devices for a medical, dental or surgical tool are described that are designed to put the tool into an oscillating, rotational motion, wherein the oscillating, rotational motion comprises an alternating rotation of the tool by a first angle of rotation in a first rotational direction and by a second angle of rotation in a second rotational direction substantially opposed to the first rotational direction, wherein the first and second angles of rotation may have different values, so that during multiple sequential rotations in the first and second rotational directions, the tool cumulatively experiences a rotational motion in a preferred direction.

Drive device for a medical, dental or surgical tool

A hand instrument, comprising: a tool-holding device for fastening a treatment tool on the hand instrument, a driveshaft for transmitting a driving movement to the tool-holding device and a stroke gear which is designed to induce the tool-holding device in a stroke movement. According to a first embodiment the hand instrument further has a rotary gear which is designed to induce the tool-holding device to a rotational movement, wherein a drive-side element of the rotary gear and a drive-side element of the stroke gear are arranged jointly on the driveshaft. According to a second embodiment the drive-side element of the stroke gear is designed such, that in a complete revolution of the drive-side element of the stroke gear the tool-holding device runs through more than a double stroke. According to another embodiment the drive-side element of the stroke gear is disposed concentrically around an axis of rotation of the driveshaft.

Medical or dental hand instrument

Various mechanical drive devices, mechanical gears, combinations thereof and medical or dental treatment devices with such mechanical drive devices or gears are described. The mechanical drive devices and mechanical gears convert a unidirectional rotational movement received by a motor drive into a multidirectional movement, so that a tool-holding device of the treatment device can be induced to a multidirectional movement, in particular to a, preferably simultaneous, lifting and rotating movement or to a lifting and oscillating rotational movement with a reduced rotational speed.

Drive device for medical or dental tool

A medical or dental fluid-driven handle with a control or regulation circuit for the control or regulation of the rotational speed of a rotary part to a predetermined rotational speed and methods are presented. The handle comprises a rotary part that can be set in rotary motion by a drive fluid, a fluid line carrying the drive fluid to or from the rotary part or a fluid branch line that is connected to a fluid line carrying the drive fluid, and a control or regulation circuit that is designed to control or regulate the rotational speed of the rotary part. An electrodynamic converter is driven by the rotary part for generating electrical energy. An actuator element is configured to act on the drive fluid and is electrically connected to the electrodynamic converter such that the actuator element is supplied with electrical energy generated by the electrodynamic converter.

Fluid-driven medical or dental handle

Methods for controlling and/or regulating of a compressed-gas-operable medical or dental drive device and a control and/or regulating device for performing such methods are described. In one method according to a first embodiment, a rotor of the drive device is operated at an essentially constant rotational speed (n) by adjusting the gas pressure and/or the flow rate of the compressed gas through a valve and the rotational speed is reduced on reaching a pressure value (p) of the compressed gas which is lower than the maximum gas pressure (p) of the compressed gas. In the case of a method according to a second embodiment, the gas pressure of the compressed gas and the rotational speed of the rotor are altered on reaching a rotational speed limit value (n, n) of the rotor by adjusting the valve.

Method for controlling and/or regulating a compressed-gas-operable medical drive device and such a drive device

A medical or dental, fluid-driven handle with a control or regulation circuit for the limiting, control or regulation to a maximum or predetermined rotational speed and a corresponding process are presented. The handle comprises a rotary part that can be set in rotary motion by a drive fluid, a fluid line carrying the drive fluid to or from the rotary part or a fluid branch line that is connected to a fluid line carrying drive fluid, and a control or regulation circuit designed to limit, control or regulate the rotational speed of the rotary part. An electrodynamic converter is driven by the rotary part for generating electrical energy and at least one actuator element is configured to act on the drive fluid. The actuator element is electrically connected to the electrodynamic converter such that it is supplied with electrical energy generated by the electrodynamic converter.

Medical treatment devices, such as dental treatment devices, include at least a drive unit for driving a tool configured to act on a treatment site, a light-emitting device and a cooling media dispensing device for dispensing at least one cooling medium onto a tool and/or a treatment site. The device can be controlled, such as with a controller, to substantially alternatingly operate the light-emitting device and the dispensing device, thereby intermittently illuminating the tool and/or the treatment site and dispensing cooling medium toward the tool and/or the treatment site, respectively, which provides a user with an improved view of the tool, the treatment site, or both.

Medical handpiece with pulsed illumination

A fluid-operated medical or dental handle with a device for limiting the rotational speed to a maximum rotational speed value is disclosed. The handle comprises a rotating part that can be induced to rotation by a driving fluid for driving a tool connectable to the rotating part, an electrodynamic transducer driven by the rotating part for induction of an electric voltage, wherein the electrodynamic transducer has at least one coil and a magnetic element and at least one switch element for optional opening and closing of a circuit between the two ends of the at least one coil, so that with the circuit closed, an electric current and an induced magnetic field that decelerates the rotational speed of the rotating part and the tool connectable thereto can be induced in the coil of the electrodynamic transducer.
