The device records the data of several steps of a protocol hierarchy within a communications system. For this purpose, the data are received by a receiver and buffered by a buffer. The data consist of payload data and control information. The control information is assigned to the individual protocol-hierarchy planes. In this context, the control information of all protocol-hierarchy planes is received and buffered. Furthermore, a maximum of one copy of the payload data is buffered.

Method and device for logging communications connections at very high data rates

A method and device for modifying modular messages transmittable via an electronic transmission system is described in which a message is read using a read devie and the structure of the message is determined. An individual structural unit of the message can be selected, in which the possible modifications and/or functions can be determined, displayed, and selected. The selected modification is verified for validity with regard to the structure of the message, and, if the modification is valid, execution, whereupon a modified, new message is issued.

Method and device for modifying modular messages

A message analysis device is described including a storage device, display device, and a selection device. The storage device can be used to store messages in a file in chronological order, and the a display device can be used to display at least one first and one second window. One part of the messages, which are chronologically stored in the file, can be displayed in the first window. The selection device can be used to select at least one message to be displayed in the second window, corresponding to a parent and/or child generation of a specific message. Accordingly, information can be evaluated from a message header to determine and represent those parent-generation messages that causally triggered a specific message and/or those child-generation messages that are causally determined by the specific message.
